You don't NEED them but it will be a plus. Reduces risk of disc rub.

It’s august so the annual search for CX Begins!
To distinguish this from the granac threads, I propose we talk only about bikes for doing CX and not commuting/ adventuring/ insta 650b gumwall posing
What’s the best pound for pound CX race bike going?
A few criteria:
Want
- hideous colours
- thru axles
- tubeless
- 1x
- race proven trickery
- hydraulic disc
Do not want
- mud guard mounts
- room for 650b
- external cables (on down tube)
- hideous colours

The checkpoint is a nice bike but shouldn’t be on this thread as it’s clearly a gravel poser ‘I slept in a tent once’ adventure bike.
Also wtf is that drop out

Sliding rear dropout so you can run it singlespeed and/or move the rear wheel to modify the wheelbase if you so desire.

Felt have usually done some pretty hideous colours

New? That's a solid wish list for a grand.
That XLS SL springs to mind but the paintjob isn't that hideous and not tubeless.

Agreed vision 30 wheels are poop

Get a Caadx Tiagra. Comes tubeless ready as well. I would say if you are serious about a season of CX (eg doing all the London X league fixtures) don't go fancy, and don't apex 1x11. When you have to spend 60 on a new derailleur as opposed to 25 once (or maybe twice!) in a season then you'll think twice about whether it was worth it. Not to mention the cost of getting to and from the races, plus cost of entry. CX is great but it's not an #outsideisfree kind of cycling. Then if you love CX you can drop all the money on drive train and tyre selection. Read back through for AndyP's advice, his stuff is evergreen.

That's some next level poop.

I have! I had some crabon rims with them on my cervelo about 5 years ago. They were super fast.... and died super fast

I read that the aesymetric rear stays on the latest caadx and SuperX require different wheel dishing? Surely that’s a pain in a ballsack

• #4244
then buy my Crockett 54cm with force/rival 1 Hydro.
-
• #4245
A pain in what sense? Do you mean if you want hassle-free wheelswaps mid-race and want to duplicate the hub/wheel spacing on the second set? If you're running tubeless set up well this really shouldn't be an issue. You won't need multiple wheelsets for your CX bike, just a selection of tyres. I'm only offering practical-skewed thoughts so happy to quiet down if you have different ideas. It's just I think getting a cx bike with decent clearance and dependable drive chain is all you need to find out whether you have the heart and the legs for CX.

Does the CAADX have the AI dishing?
