  • Looking for a new 2 person - bicycle touring - tent. Will be used in warmer climates and needs a bit of a porch and some space inside.
Double skin would be nice so can be packs separately if it rains. Also to be able to pitch inner only if it’s warm.

Buy cheap buy twice so will pay for the best.

    Shouts?

  • MSR Hubba Hubba NX might be worth a look. I’ve got the MSR Elixir 2 which is a bit cheaper, and a bit heavier with slightly bigger porches, but very comfortable, good size and shape and great quality. The Hubba Hubba is similar but with upgraded materials.

Inner first pitching is the one drawback, can go outer first if you’ve got the footprint, but it’s a bit awkward.

  • Nigor WickiUP 3 (outer, inner).
+ Plenty of space for 2 people with gear. Headspace too since it's a tipi tent. Slept 3 with stuff in the inner tent. Slept 4 with stuff outside under just the outer, tight.
+ Double skin. Same accessories for all configurations.
+ Very stable in wind, rain.
+- Can be fiddly to setup as shape mostly relies on correct tension and spacing of the corners. Still better than dac pole suspended tents (deeply subjective this one).
    - No porch. Although when using both layers you could create a small one.

    Hope this helps.

  • What did you go for in the end?
I'm starting to dream about some summer touring with my eldest and need a tent. Have three large family tents but nothing I'd dream of taking on a bike.
