I did have a long ride planned for this summer but a succession of injuries and illnesses over the winter and spring ruined my training plan and forced a postponement until next year.
It was a year ago today that I started my London to Cambridge excursion. What that taught me is that riding 200 km a day repeatedly is very tough for a fat old man but doing so without home luxuries, carrying kit, climbing mountains, facing gravel and dogs, and heat and storms and searching for food is more than I could expect of myself. I so admire those still on the road.
Tom, thank you.
