  • Took mine, in the bag to take through security, then out the bag to wheel around before putting back in the the bag before boarding.
France side they wanted in bag at all times.

  • I took mine, in a bag from check-in until I got off at the other end. No advance booking or anything.

Small problem when they tried to put it through the normal x-ray machine at St Pancras and some of the machine plastic made nasty cracking sounds, it needs to go through the extra large machine they have. All the machine at Brussels were big enough.

  • Bike fun suspension blocks, does anyone know if these are still made? I've had a look and can't seem to find any but would like something similar.

  • If you're looking for stiffer suspension, get the Joseph Kuosac super firm block. Really good.

  • Thanks, have seen them but its in part an aesthetic decision.

  • q-car

  • Or,if you are a cheap skate a jubilee clip or two can help ;)

  • Mmmmm!

  • Wet weather question, first brompton ride in the rain (thank you summer) and front guard did its thing but bike was brought without rear one. Official brompton guards are ££ and very average is there a hack/alternate option? The guard on its own seems poor value and makes me think i'm better getting the rack have also heard from other owners that the guard on its own makes wheeling it about a pain..

  • @dominijk
On the few occasions I wheel mine, I tilt it so that it isn't running on the mudguard wheel - its a bit more stable that way.
It doesn't wheel well on anything other than perfect surfaces ie railway terminii, airports, supermarket floor etc.
On anything like a London pavement it quickly develops a Tacoma Narrows wobble.
Can't speak for rolling on the rack myself, but word has it that it is more stable.

ETA - I would've thought that molishing something like a piece of Correx to the rack, has the potential to work as a mudguard.

  • Roller blade/skate wheels are better apparently.

  • Brompton guards work fine, I have some spare rear stays if you need?

The racks are useful if you use it for luggage and are happy to take it off each time to kick the wheel under / if you need to wheel it around a lot.. just unfold and wheel it.

There’s small racks on eBay for £35 or you can go up to like 200+ for lovely carbon ones! Depends what you need..

I fine just some slightly bigger / better easy wheels covers it for me, but I don’t intend on ever rolling the bike semi folded.

  • Having seen a 3rd party ti fork (and how it was hugely different to an actual Brompton fork) I would exercise caution.

  • I don’t think they’re supposed to look the same. They’re supposed to be a perfect fit, as light as the original, long lasting and a favourable alternative based on cost.

  • I’m not talking aesthetics. The fork had the wrong trail/rake and a2c.

  • Chap I know has one, he thinks its the best thing since sliced bread, hes not a brompton mechanic and I would not touch one with a bargepole.

  • Would or wouldn't?

  • Has anybody tried a Carradice Super C Rackbag on a Brompton rack? I had a look for photos online, but can't seem to find one on a Brompton. Is it a bad combination?

  • Amazing...

  • Fuck that for a laugh. I find my S2 unstable enough as it is!
