  • Hello!

I just bought a Moser cyclocross steel bike and I'm now trying to learn more about this specific model. My intention is to adapt it to a simple commuter bike (I particularly like the idea of the huge tire clearance due to the cantis), not to restore it as this doesn't seem to be worth it anyway.

The frame decor is similar to the '82 Team Bike, but it doesn't have any chrome sections. Rear dropouts are Campa, but there isn't any other indication regarding tubes etc. Originally, it was probably equipped with Campa Nuevo Record (but only the front derailleur and the bar end shifters remain) and Sugino Mighty cranks, Mafac cantis.

(Sorry for the dropbox links. I don't manage to upload a file directly into the post.)

Does anybody have any clue regarding the model, year, tubing and original equipment? Any hint, link to a catalogue would be highly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Martin

  • Hi Martin, I just saw the photos.
I don't think it is a Moser: not right fork, missing panto at least on the bb shell.

It is repainted not with the right decals.

  • Thanks, Lesente! That's what I started to think. The paint indeed doesn't look like it's the original one. And the 'Zeus 2000' mark on the fork crown is odd too.

It's just a bit strange that some 30+ years ago when the previous owner bought the bike, a bike shop (cf. two decals on the down tube) sold him a fake Moser (Original Zeus?). I thought that happens only nowadays, with all the hipster vintage bike craze! ;-)

Anyway, I'm kind of relieved that it's not an authentic bike as I can now adjust it freely to my needs (bullhorn bars, mini v-brakes, mudguards) without having to feel guilty of destroying a cultural heritage! ;-)

    Thanks again!
    Martin
