+1 for the £6 Royal Mail shipping option from CW. Last week I got a SKX013 with no duty, took a few more days to arrive than the free shipping and doesn’t come in a proper box but that’s fine for me.

Same here. Went for the royal mail shipping on a SKX013 and no duty. Arrived yesterday!
Weirdly, it came from Salford.

Right hand side of the dial looks like it's had some water ingress, but maybe it's just the light. I'd have the movement serviced and the glass replaced. Original buckle is nice. Original strap or not doesn't really matter with leather imo. Not replacing a leather strap every 1-2 years is a little unhygienic anyway :)

Thanks for the info. I really don’t like the strap and, it may be due to age, but it is really tough leather which was unexpected.
I would like to have it to wear but I’m not sure if I want it restored.
Any idea of value?
How would restoration affect value? -

Oo, that's nice - What's the Seiko ref?

How would restoration affect value?
Depends on the restoration and watch.
All the blogs and watch websites go on about unpolished cases and untouched dials.
With very rare or collectable watches it makes sense. With less rare watches my guess would be there are as many, if not more, buyers for an old watch that looks new/vgc. I'd love to see some real price analysis of this.
Personally I'd go very light touch: service, clean, replace the crystal and strap. Keep all the original parts just in case at some point in the future randomly turns out to be super rare for some reason.

One mans “patina” is another mans “damage”
In some cases I think that if you just want to keep it in a box and look at it then don’t bother restore , if you want to actually use as a timepiece then “sympathetic” restoration. And don’t change things if you don’t need to. -

Thanks.
Not sure the watch is worth much more than gold value. I’ll talk it over with my mother. -

Just put a brown suede strap on mine, and I think have now officially spent more on straps than the watch cost about 5 years ago

Ooh, that looks good with suede. I will be changing the standard strap. Was thinking canvas.
Best thing about these Seikos is that you can have a variety of watches and still afford different straps. -

Yeah, snzg15... As upsideown said. Currently 53% off on creation watches

Any recommendations on where to get a Casio Pro Trek sorted?
-
• #29242
Got mine as-new from gumtree, worth a hussle there. Did you see a couple resellers (one in Ireland) selling PRG models new at reduced prices? There’s also a jeweller (Chapelle’s?) that has a few older models heavily discounted.
Edit: looks like online most are out of stock

Wait, or do you mean sorted as in serviced?? In which case it would have to be straight to Casio.

All hope is lost. The ABC has gained two more grazes on the bezel. I blame its size. It’s like a helmet. It’s asking to be knocked.
-
• #29244
Is it made of cheese?
Considering the intended use of ABCs (outside is the fundamental) I'm surprised by how easy you are finding damaging it.I appreciate it's not a G Shock, but should still be able to withstand a little roughing.

Seems well-enough made, just not a G.
They are the tiniest marks, but it’s immediate paint loss.
I think it’s the paint coming off from that horrible kind of rubbing against a hard place wear. It’s showing bright spots of metal for the bezel.
To be honest for ‘tough solar’ and 20bar, the plastic doesn’t feel tough like a G, feels almost brittle to the touch. I’d certainly not have paid rrp. Probably if/when this breaks I’d never go for less than the G-Shock version.

All that aside, I actually really love it.

People want these, right? Just saw on the scamtree.

What is meant by "The case is a perfect candidate for a recut..."?
A quick Duckle found nothing informative.

Suggests to me a process of sharpening the edges up to recover the case from the polishing which has blurred them.
The prospex samurai is good. Tried one on the other day. I think I'm going to go for the blue pepsi version. Feels really nice on and the quality is high.
Also, got this from creation watches for $150 the other day, absolute bargain.
