RIP poor man. Condolences to his friends and family.
I went through there just after the road was re-opened. Looks like both cyclist and lorry were heading westbound on High Holborn at time of crash. -

Today's tragedy is the fourth cyclist fatality on this small one-way traffic system in the last five years.
London Cycling Campaign are calling for a demonstration at Holborn on Monday at 6pm
https://www.facebook.com/events/940395912820240/
They say:Join us in protesting at Holborn on Monday, 6PM, to send a strong message to the Mayor, TfL and London’s Councils that they need to pick up the pace. They needs to break this lethal pattern.
Just opposite the crash site there are the sad remains of another crash. A broken mangled bike chained to a post, with a few weeds growing up through the frame.

Just heard about this on the news. So sad a man who has devoted the best part of his 67 years looking after others. RiP Dr Peter Fisher

Reports on the inquest:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jan/09/cyclist-death-london-streets-peter-fisher-inquest
I don't think the reports tell a clear story about what happened, although I imagine the crash investigator's interpretation of the CCTV recording is more to be believed than the witness account.

The split of anti cyclist - pro cyclist safety comments is unusually good for the standard
Yet another death in one of London's appalling one-way systems. Too early to know what happened, but one thing that's been very noticeable there in recent years has been the appalling road surface. This is likely to persist until the end of the major construction work (Crossrail and the old Post Office building). RIP rider.
