Our cats are rescue cats found abandoned outside. One of them is terrified out the outdoors. Add that to the continued cat killings around where we are, both ours are permanent house cats.
One day, I went down in the morning to let them out of the kitchen and I could only find one.
Then, from up on high, I heard a bleating noise; Hendricks had managed to jump out of one of the Velux windows and spent the night on the roof. I'd left it open a fraction of an inch; he'd jumped from the surface, to the top of the fridge, onto the cooker hood and onto the bottom ledge and muscled his way out. They he got scared and couldn't get back in. Had to rescue him with a ladder from outside.
He still goes up on top of the cooker hood though...

Are you in catford now? The cat killer is still in operation? Our plan is to eventually let them out, but the little one is so unafraid of everything and fearless I worry she will just walk up to anyone.
Mental your cat went up there. I need to stop underestimating these guys, anything is possible if you are a feline it would seem.
Our kitten went missing this morning. Turned the house upside down over the space of two hours searching for her (since shes only 3 months she is in the house only, we have been diligently keeping doors and windows shut). Turns out I had forgotten the upstairs bedroom window slightly open. I eventually found her outside in the front garden terrified and hiding behind a plant pot. Crazy kitten either jumped or fell. She has a little limp, but is putting weight on it and is back to games as usual now.
Still can't believe she got up there, I'm pretty certain she can't jump high enough to reach the window sill so only explanation is she pulled herself up the curtains. I feel so bad that I left it open like that but am so glad she is back safe and sound. Have to up my cat dad game if I'm going to get her through to cathood.
