• Just ordered one of these for my Pa.

It should be perfect for him as its got a sloped TT so its easy to get his leg over (pharrr). My plan from his brief is functional and minimal maintance:

    • upright position; so short stem, flat swept bars & an inline seat post. Ergo grips.
    • 1x10 with external Bb cranks/ narrow wide & 11-36 cassette so he can get up steep Welsh hills without worrying about his chain coming off when shifting on the front (his current bug bare).
    • trigger shifter and long cage SRAM mtb mech, 1 to 1 pull ratio.
    • Hydraulic brakes (probably Shimano BR-M6000)
    • Some strong lightweight wheels (@Hulsroy says 28h 3x) which will probably be tubeless, so he doesn't have to worry about punctures. I'm wondering if I get some DT swiss rims and Novatech hubs.
    • Full length mudguards and flaps as he lives in the wettest city in the UK.
    • large platform pedals.
    • Maybe a small front rack/basket.
    • 35c G-One speeds for grip in the wet and some comfort.

PX claim mac tyre is 28c but I saw this one (belonging to @Technics100)

which are 42c (albeit squeezed in), so 35c and plastic mudguards should be fit fine for him.

  • updated with correct owner, thanks.
£150 seems like a good deal for the F&F, luckily there was one on their site for £125 with a chipped fork (which he wont care about) so the saving paid for the postage.
I've got some silver bits already which I can use for him:

    • Apex Cranks
    • Thomson masterpiece seat post
    • Hope headset
    • Wellgo pedals

Hopefully he'll be getting envious looks from his pals when he rolls up to their next ride on it.
