Bought this frame a few years back and took the time to find components I wanted to make it a complete build with a modern groupset. The frame is a beautiful 1994 Fausto Coppi made from Colombus Genius tubing. I bought the frame, which original forks were unfortunately damaged, from a Italian man who had previously worked in the Masciaghi factory where the frames were built and who was given the frame as a gift.
In sourcing the parts I wanted to add a classic looking yet modern chrome drivetrain and wheel set. Choosing a Colombus Minial carbon fork allowed me to cadd a modern cockpit yet keep a relatively classic shape to the front end. The bike is truly stunning and manages to maintain its classical image despite the modern components.
The frame has the original paintwork which as shown in the pictures is fairly chipped. However there are no dents, or dings or other structural damage to the frame. I have ridden the bike very lightly over the 5 years I have had it (maybe 500 miles max) and never in the rain. The groupset and wheels are in very good condition considering their age (2010) as they also have been given very little use and have been well cared for. Their are some cosmetic marks on both the bar tape and the saddle. The Thomson seat post also has a few marks on the rear where the frame has scratched it on insertion.
This really is a wonderful bike to ride. I'm very sad to see this go and it really was a labour of love to make it and source the parts. However, I just do not ride it enough to justify keeping it.
