Whatever @dammit - a Tank is as classic as they come.
@umop3pisdn - vintage should definitely be an option. As you say, a Seamaster is the easy option, so why not go for something a little more unusual? kabaclyde on reddit obviously has relative bargains. Isn’t look out for a 60s Pie Pan Constellation.
It doesn’t even have to be vintage but as I’m sure you know, second hand will save you a chunk. Some of the smaller Aqua Terra’s could definitely be worn with a suit if you’re keen on buying something more modern.
Does it need to be a mid level luxury brand like Omega? Or can it be something now considered entry level like Longines, Nomos or Tudor? I’d definitely check out the Tudor BB36 if you’ve not seen one in the flesh. Lovely Oyster case, looks great on a strap or bracelet, great size and best of all an easy and cheap to service ETA 2824. Can be had for under £2k.

I'm in no way denying that it is a classic.
So, in their way, are Stone Island, Armani Jeans, Ben Sherman and Stella Artois.
You could combine those with the watch in question to nail The Look, quite possibly with a "Free Tommy Robinson" badge, these days.
Very popular watch with Notts Forest Intercity Crew, and indeed the only people I've ever seen wearing them.
