how are you going to establish that it's not rideworthy to any degree of certitude?
-
• #1253
Eyeballs. I mean if it's visibly cracked or something. Seller says it's been professionally repaired.
Maybe it's a bad idea
-
• #1254
If it's listed as spares or repair then, technically, you couldn't return it.
Maybe it's a bad idea
There are worse ideas. Just not that many.

Phone your local dentist and ask them how much veneers are before making any decisions!

Listed as used
will just post it, doubt anyone's going sneak a bid in and have it before me

Given that there a full bikes unrepaired for £500ish think I'll give it a miss
(I don't think a frame that's been repaired is any less trustworthy than one that hasn't to be honest - forgive me for not believing people who say "never crashed")

yeah, but on the same level-fair enough he's declared the repair but I'd be wanting to know how the top tube became cracked in the first place? If crashed, has it been x-rayed to see if there's more cracks elsewhere that weren't visible?
Could be fine, could be an accident waiting to happen. I'd be annoyed at myself if I bought it and then bit the tarmac because it snapped...

Good points. there's plenty of bargains out there, think I'll wait for something better to show up.
If anyone has cheap-but-aero-and-stiff-and-light road bike frame in ~56cm, give me a shout - I may be going to Majorca so obviously need to build a whole new bike

Sure, bro. I believe you.

What’ve you got to lose?
-
• #1261
By the looks of it, >£400 if they reverse the payment in paypal. I sent a reply like, forgive my suspicion but why would you do that?
-
• #1262
You can borrow my caad12 disc if you like. It’s got Red22 and Hed Ardennes. Stiff yes, light and aero not as much. Think it is about 7 and a half kg

So make the offer, get it accepted, receive the money and withdraw it to your bank. Only post once it’s cleared.
No? -
• #1264
That’s what I’m thinking. I just have the fear that paypal will pull out the money to reverse and throw me into a negative balance. This happened once before. If you don’t repay the negative balance fast enough they immediately send bailiffs.

Woah. Heavy

Yup. Someone bought my camera, and someone else’s identical camera. Clearly hedging bets and expecting to be outbid on one of them - you could see this by the feedback profile. They got cold feet over my sale as it was fractionally more expensive, argued it was not as described, got a full refund including additional postage, forced my paypal into negative. I tried to argue with paypal and ebay over it, but in the mean time debt collectors came knocking on the door.
Over a poxy £40.
And that email and bank account number was banned forever from paypal.

eBay is great at protecting its users. So long as you’re buying something, not selling.

Agreed.

I saw that, I'm chatting to him about it :)

So I contacted a seller today, saying please cancel my order as youve yet to post it and refund me. It had been over a week with no communication and I had paid immediately.
They message backing saying sorry it was posted last week I’ve just not updated eBay.
Leading me to think they were refunding me as it was on its way.
Then I get a refund about 20 mins later.Do I now have to pay to send it back? I’m confused....?
-
• #1272
Still haven't received it yet. Should I just not accept it and ask for it to be RTS?
-
• #1273
Accept the refund, if the product arrives, win, but it probably wont
-
• #1274
Wouldn't I need to return it?
Edit: I dont want my ebay messed up over £10. I'm also away for a week from tomorrow.

• #1275
why would a refund be sent so easily if the product has been posted?
Tempted to take a punt on a "repaired" carbon frame, what happens if I buy it and it's not rideworthy? Presumably I can get a refund but would lose both postage fees?
Edit, wait, no, eBay refunds the original postage fees? I would pay to return the item I think
