I think one of things that attracted me most to a Speedy is how versatile it is, I like it on a bracelet too but for now I prefer it a bit dressier for work.
@TRA yep Novemeber ‘79, you can run serial numbers through this website, although to be definitive I need to order the ‘Extract from the Archives’.

Looks great. You must be stoked. A cursory glance at Google suggests I have no chance of being able to afford one for my 40th next year!

Extract from the archives is a great way of parting fools from their money!
I did it as well for my mark 2 .
Ignore it when they say it will be with you in 28days . Mine took 4 months. -

Fucking finally, a watch that makes sense.
I mean, who doesn’t always look at their watch and think “Is my wrist perfectly level?”
-
• #29058
umm you could strap it somewhere else ;-)

Did not see that... Why??? Why??

Pretty though.

I took it apart when I was 8- inadvertently breaking it. I only found this out earlier this year and paid to get it fully refurbished.
I expect I paid more than it’s worth, if it were on the market, but there you go.

This was my dad’s 21st present from the 80s. Not been touched for 20+ years. He has large wrists so was never going to be able to wear it, despite changing the strap when purchased. At the time it was all my grandparents could afford (£193.38 all in).
Not sure what to do with it - my sister could have it maybe. My dad mentioned my 21st coming up in a few months and I like the idea of getting me a nice watch., perhaps by part exchanging this.

Exchange it? Why? It looks great. Is it 36mm?
-
• #29073
Yeah, 34mm is pushing it if you don't have a small wrist. I would happily wear a 34mm, but can understand why others wouldn't. If it was his suggestion than fair enough!

Nice.
Weak wrists like mine need a watch that small to look ‘right’ (compared to the monster Protrek I’m wearing ironically).

Dressier strap and save it for formal occasions?
Let's see it on the wrist.
It looks great as is but imo it needs the bracelet to really sing.
Looking forward to the big 3-0 for personal acquisition.
Congrats.
