  • Yes. drink plenty of water. keep moving legs and compress and elevate.

  • According to Jesse, no tracker to ease the pressure on him (although I think possibly to avoid the ‘passionate’ dot watchers he encountered in Oz)

  • Curve FB 3hrs ago:

For those of you following Kristof Allegaert on his #LEJOGLE attempt, he is heading into the far north of Scotland and misses his gloves. It’s 6am on Wed morning and he has just passed through Dingwall. All going well he’ll get to John O’Groats for a late lunch, turn around and be back in Inverness late tonight.

Northern Scotland... Kristof Allegaert is due to make his #lejogle u-turn at John O’Groats this afternoon. He started from Land’s End at 1800 on Sunday. His pace has been relentless despite wild weather, wind, heavy traffic and a few detours. Kristof is still on track for his 5.5 day target. Get behind him people! What an incredible effort!

  • British arnt Aussie. he's be lucky if auntie Maurine turned out.

Seems a shame to not be able to follow. Missed trick. Or

  • Some compression socks/ tights will help. I often sleep in them after big rides. Depending on how serious the swelling is maybe wait for some reduction before using.

Agree. Kristof is notorious for keeping his cards close to his chest though. He didn't say what he was doing beforehand, no route published etc. If he had done it in the open some people would have gone out on the road to cheer him on, and hand him up water and stuff.

Approach is such a contrast to @wheels_of_fire in his LEJoG - announced well in advance, route open, loads of honest, unspun updates (easier with support obvs). Loads of people got behind him and Kristof not benefitting from that.

  • So he's made it halfway in 67hr 15min and the record is 138 so looks like it will be close run

  • It depends on whether he has just slept or of he needs to, but on those figures it looks a tall order as the second leg will be slower due to fatigue and also wind more likely to be unfavorable.

  • The other thing I don't understand with Kristof's ride is why did he start in the evening? If I was doing it I'd start around 8am so I was as well rested as possible.

  • Also no aero bars which seems a little strange.

  • yup it's all a bit weird.

  • I would understand if it was a promo for Curve, all about enjoying cycling rather than intense racing etc, but there is basically no media around it.

  • No update for 19hrs. Hope he's ok, anyone heard anything?

  • No, I've been getting my updates off Jesse's and Rhino's instagram stories but like you say, they haven't posted anything since last night,I think he slept yesterday morning before getting to JOG, so may of had another sleep in the early hours

  • Saw Kristoff on the side of the A9, Just past Dunkeld and Birman today, around 14-00.

He was on the verge fiddling with his bike, hope it wasn’t a massive mechanical.

Was driving home northbound, so couldn’t stop to see what was going on

  • Curve's Facebook had him in Perth 4hrs ago stocking up on tubes, so he must have been ok. No update since then...

  • "Very last stretch"?

  • Haha, well relatively. But indeed apparently he won't sleep anymore. Like in the long bikepacking races, he usually rides the last 800km or so without sleep, while sleeping regularly until that.

So Guinness is the authority, that keeps record of this?
    http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/91061-fastest-return-journey-from-lands-end-to-john-o-groats-by-bicycle-male

  • I could have beaten the record if it was 7 years.

  • LEJOGLE UPDATE: Kristof is in Preston. He’s shooting for a noon finish on Saturday. Can he do it? What an amazing effort. Go Special K

  • We'd like to get behind him if we knew what was happening!

  • How do you actually verify a record you've ridden unsupported, do they accept a gps track? WUCA seems to want two officials to be there with you to see it and Guinness would like something like that too, though they seem more flexible if needed.

  • This. So stupid.

  • Their 'get behind him' thing is pretty annoying as it's impossible to follow or support him!
