My inkling was the Speedmaster now I’m not so sure. It is not for daily wear - the Apple Watch does that.
I have a few watches - Longines being the best, I have a titanium Bering which I like. My watches are a variety of styles so no hint there.
I saw a Rolex without the bubble in the glass - used at £7000 but probably too expensive for me.
I almost bought the Casio on the previous page yesterday as I like it.The quandary continues ....

Ok, so it’s an occasional watch (like my Speedy will be), have you considered vintage? Personally I love a chronograph, an old Heuer or Zenith if the Speedy wasn’t your thing, what was the Rolex you saw?

I posted about this watch ages ago but thought it was worth revisiting.
It’s an old Omega Geneve that turned up in a box of old junk at my mum’s house. It had probably been packed away for over 30 years and was pretty banged up and wasn’t running anymore so I took it to @ejay2.0 who sent it to Omega for a full service. It came back a couple of weeks ago and I think it’s simply beautiful.
I wore it for a few days, but it turns out that there was some confusion about who originally owned the watch. Since it was discovered at my mum’s house I assumed that it belonged to her father, however it now turns out that it belonged to my dad’s dad. My dad doesn’t know about our rediscovery and he idolised his father so I think I’m going to keep the watch pristine and give it back to him. He’ll be 70 in a little over a year, and I think it’ll make a lovely gift.

Looks great, very unusual hands. I think your Dad will be stoked and without trying to be morbid it’ll probably come back to you eventually and then be even more sentimental.

Those are so nice!
What's the strap? Wouldn't mind putting something like that on my Rodania.

That's an absolute beauty. I used to have one but sold it, which I regret.
Give it to your Dad before his birthday!

I’m not sure what the Rolex was. I may call in and give it another look.
I had a Zenith Defy which got stolen in the post whilst away for service. I may have a look for another one but it won’t be the same - the atolen on was a present for my 21st.
I’ll ponder for a while and consider options. My heart was really set on the Speedy. I still love the look of them in pics - which is odd. Omega make other lovely watches too but a big rethink is in order. -

These are lovely and different to a Moonwatch.

I really like Speedmasters, but I don't know if I could ever buy one. 50% of the nice watches on my train are Speedies (with Rolex Subs the other half).

Speedys look lovely in pics. That one above is especially nice. But, on my wrist, not so much. Hard to explain and I think it’s rather odd myself.

^^I was the same. I didn’t understand why people went so mental about them, tried one on and thought it looked shit.
There’s so many different variations that I think it’s about just finding one that works for you.
Here’s mine. Nothing special, apparently didn’t sell well, and supposedly dogged with movement problems. But I think it looks great so that’s all that matters

Did you try the one above on? It’s 2.3mm smaller than a Moonwatch. It’s very very different on the wrist vs a Moonwatch.
-
• #29023
Nope. I think the ones I had on were 42 mm. They fitted well and looked fine but .... see previous - I didn’t fall in love!
I think I more shocked than anything else. I’d also started initial enquiries here to buy one. I’m glad I tried it on first. -

I lied, never had a Daytona, not getting a Patek, barely holding it together as it is.
