I think, but I’m not sure, it may be that it is similar to my Longines watch - stainless case and bracelet with black chrono dial. I thought, in my own mind, it would be something different - something more special. The Speedy with the orange parts had a leather strap and was nice but just not nice enough.
My father had an Omega from the 1960s, I haven’t seen it in years so I might give it a look and it might be something I would wear. If so, expect posts about refurbing or not refurbing!

A family member was sporting a G-Shock at our recent gathering. I tried it on for a bit and it confirms my compmete ambivilence to all things G-Shock. The Hamilton I wore the whole trip was just perfect.

I really want to post one of my watches just to troll you now.

Oh! Did I ruin a page with this yet? It was spare bit of leather. Machine really didn’t like the thread I’d used, and then I lost interest and haven’t made another. Been too busy with the pouches and tool rolls.

Edit: now I think of it, I think it was a piece of leather from a pair of ladies’ knee high riding style boots. Either way I’m never using that thread on the Chinese hand crank machine ever again.

I really can't stand modern IWCs but you can't deny the beauty and functionality of their proper military watches.

@ejay2.0 @Heldring thanks chaps, it’s a 1979 and taken long time to save the money, really pleased with it. I presumed the prices would rise next year as others hitting the big 4 Oh were on the hunt.

Everything about that watch is awesome... Love the '9'....

Have you an inkling about the sort of watch you want, diver, chrono, dress etc? Or brand?
It’s literally taken me years to narrow down what I like and even then the goal posts move.
