  • The i9s? Yeah saw a similar review on C5D the other day. Haven't heard anything as extreme as 10 mins down to 30 secs but apparently lots of improvements.

  • Yeah to get a 600mb out his old i7 13" was like 15/20mins and to get the same file out the i9 15" it took about a min. Wild.

  • Are there unofficial drivers out there for older printers? Perhaps 'universal' basic drivers?

I've a Samsung laserjet that's fine, and costs nothing to run ... but High Sierra doesn't want to know.

  • Why do I get into hair-tearing feedback loops of having constantly reset apple ID passwords when I never have any trouble with any other applications?

Today's classic is that having been booted out by a software update, and having to reset the password for the billionth time, my phone is accepting the new password (and I have an email saying my password has been changed) but iTunes is stuck in a feedback look of "sign in" *enters new password "boomp... sign in" *enters old password "boomp... sign in" *double checks new password is correct and works on other devices... enters new password "boomp... sign in". Hnnnnng! It' snot even telling me "incorrect password it just re-presents the sign in box.

    Any ideas?

I've had to reset the fucking thing so many times that when I was trying to choose a new password last night I ran through at least half a dozen variations on my go-to's and was told "choose a password you haven't used in the last year" every time. Even my exasperated "Fuckoffapple99" attempts were met with the dreaded "boomp..."

  • My only suggestion is to call apple support. They have been very helpful over the phone on the 2 occasions when I’ve called about os/software issues. Hope you get it sorted.

  • You have to set your password to "password".

  • Very droll. Seems to have been sorted by forcing close and rebooting. Still... fucking apple password bollocks.

  • I no longer have any iOS devices but am still getting emails from testflight for updates on a bit of software a former client developed. How can I stop these emails? Clicking unsubscribe does nothing but create an email to the client. I've asked them to be dropped from lists but my understanding is it's an Apple/Testflight list, not a list they have.

  • Create an inbox rule to bin it?

  • Very droll.

    I'm sorry.

Happy to hear switching it off and on again seems to have solved the problem!

  • Anyone want this pretty much brand new Magic Mouse 2? It’s barely used and is in amazing condition. Comes with the box and cable. £40

  • Yeah probs. Just wondered if there was a way I could log into via a browser to change TF settings.

  • What's the best way to merge the data from two Macs?

My main machine was an iMac. I backed it up twice (Time Machine and a second cloned copy with SuperDuper) and wiped it ready to sell. But whilst I was saving to buy a MacBook, I started using it again. So now I have 100GB of data which I want to copy over to my MacBook via an external HD.

Should I clone the iMac onto the HD? Or just drag and drop the Home folder from the iMac to the external HD? I want to keep the permissions/settings on the laptop.

    Help, pls!

  • Struggling to find a decent, lowkey and affordable adapter to allow me to record audio from my 2017 macbook pro (USB 3 to 3.5mm headphone jack I think).

    Any advice?

  • totally just copy over the files in finder. If you can see them in finder you should be able to preserve permissions using this method or this method

  • iPhone 7 had developed a weird behaviour where if i’m Listening to music or podcasts and then lock the screen, any touch of the blank screen (like putting the phone in a pocket) sends it into a random cacophony of playing at double speed, playing snippets while scrolling backwards, going back to the start then relentlessly looping the first second of the track. Pressing the home button then launches Siri while the madness continues until the headphones are disconnected.

  • Oh, that must be fun!

Is it like it hasn't really locked the screen, and then buttons are pushed in your pocket?

  • Yeah but always seems to be the same series of events. Double speed, scrolling rapidly backwards, then looping....

  • Is this using the same app for podcasts and music or is it across different ones?

  • Seems to be different apps. itunes podcast app and apple music anyway. Will try it with spotify when I get the chance.

  • Sounds like a software issue but could be something janky with the proximity sensor/digitiser but then you’d have other issues...

Try the Overcast app as well. If you listen to a lot of podcasts it’s excellent.

  • Ok so it’s happening with Spotify as well. Also, it’s not touch that’s setting it off, it’s movement. Pointing the top of the phone down puts the screen to sleep, tipping it back up, wakes up the screen and induces the backwards scrubbing though the track or podcast. I can flip back through the tracks on an album just by flipping the phone up and down. Weird.

  • Just found “shake to undo” enabled in settings. Could that be the issue?
