  • the accidental immersions in the sea,

This sounds like a good story.

  • Accidentally immerses waterproof watch, pleasantly surprised at waterproof-ness?

  • I'm assuming he fell out of a helicopter and wrestled a shark.
    Watch was fine.

  • I had it in my head you were a Sinn man?

  • Sinn for the business upfront, G-Shock for the party out back.

  • Oof! Yeah buddy!!

  • Watch arrived. Many thanks, Jambon!

I must admit I'm going to swap the strap, I feel a Jubilee is in order. However, I presume Amazon and eBay are full of dodgy copies. Where to buy a guaranteed authentic strap?

  • You're very welcome, glad it stayed 'in the family' and turned up okay.

This looks legit on eBay for £35. It is from a 'K' version if that's a problem.

  • All is good. Thanks again!

K version isn't a problem. The J versions are only sold on rubber straps apparently according to my limited research.

  • £15 Argos Casio OKS.

  • Lush

That watch pretty much shouts the time at you.

  • So now I am in a Casio mode... I want this precise watch: GW-M5610PC-1ER

    https://g-shock.co.uk/product?v=GW-M5610PC-1ER

Anyone know where to buy it? It shows out of stock on Casio and Amazon.

  • Just stumbled across this thread and upon seeing loads of Seiko Automatics, though I would share this and ask for some advice please. It belonged to my great Grandad, who got it from collecting stamps or something from cigarette packets. My nan thought it wasn't anything special. Anyway about 2 years ago I dug it out, wound it up and fitted a new strap - and then wore it most days. Not sure how but the third hand broke.

How much roughly would a repair be? I don't think it is worth much (not that I'd sell it) but may be worth repairing anyway from a sentimental point of view.

    Thanks

  • In terms of displaying the time clearly and reliably, it's infallible.

The only thing that irks slightly is the fake bezel.

But for £15, I might just get a Sharpie...

  • The seconds hand you can just press on. Usually come off due to a strong knock. Should be a 15 minute job for a watchmaker.

Unless there’s anything else wrong with it.

  • Found the G-shock... a tiny French online boutique had it. Either I've just lost £100 or a cute watch is on its way.

  • Everyday should start with the dog barking at the FedEx man.

  • Sick fadez on that bezel :)

  • Morning all.
The Speedmaster above looks fantastic. I have been looking at them for a few months (more lusting than looking). This week i was able to get to try one on in a jewellers - more in preparation to buy than anything else. The good news - the watch fitted my wrist perfectly and was a nice weight.

The bad news - i didn't like it! Not exactly sure why, it just didn't 'do it' for me. I was able to try on range of Omegas - the only one which i liked (not loved) was a Speedmaster with orange highlights. I think it was £6500+ which is far too much to just 'like' and not love (and even then is is rather expensive). I looked at a Railmaster - nice but not for me, Seamaster - there are probably possibilities but they didn't have one i likes and De Ville - similar to Seamaster - odd colouring.
The lady in the jewellers was really good about my disappointment and showed me some Tudors and a couple of Longines but i really was not in the form to look at anything else following my disappointment.
I will now have to rethink what i'm going to do. My Apple Watch does the job but as far as looks go - NOT!
I have been as disappointed with anything for a long time - seems odd and the Speedy above looks fantastic in the pic!
Back to the drawing board ........

  • Oooof! Stunning piece.

  • Might it be a strap thing? I've had my Speedie on a leather rallye strap since I got it, really didn't (and still don't) like the bracelet.

Conversely I tried my Railmaster on the herringbone fabric strap and put it back on the metal bracelet as I think it suits it better.

  • thing with speedmasters, first try is a bit dissapointing, after a week on you you are hooked. you start noticing the details, the case shape, the size is perfect for every wrist. only downside for me its their accuracy but i guess that can be regulated. some will say and yet you sold it, i will respond by, i will buy it again in the near future

  • Haha, ended up paying double duty to DHL,,,refund time

  • Did you manage to try on a First Omega in Space? Give that a go, if it works for you on a design level.
