Wow! Are they really thumb shifters? Thank you for the info - I've never heard of friction thumb shifters before! They certainly feel solid but no matter what position I put them they are uncomfortable to use.
The way the handlebars felt made it extremely odd feeling so I flipped them; basically they were curving forwards and upwards if you know what I mean? After a 5 mile cycle my wrists were feeling it, which I've not had before. Much better now tho.
I guess with the wheel clamp is that I've not seen one like that on a seat post before, and only on old steel frame bike wheels!
Sounds like it could do with a service!
What makes you think the handlebars are upside down? Those are thumb shifters and not downtube shifters, they are meant to be like that and the set you've got looks like a half-decent pair!
Also, the 'spare wheel clamp' is meant to be there! It's a quick release for changing the height of the saddle when offroading, most riders would lower the seat before a technical downhill section!
