You ask people to take charge of their own social mobility, but there isn't opportunity for everyone. The entire country can't move to London, Manchester, or Birmingham, and yes I completely accept that I am projecting my own view upon the country - that there are no opportunities outside of those 3 cities - but are there enough opportunities to provide the lifestyle dream that has been sold? No there aren't. That basically makes life unfair doesn't it? Which it is, and it's easy for us to say because we're either privileged enough to have been gifted access to opportunity, or lucky enough that our sacrifices have paid off and not ruined us.
Isn't that the crux of it? A lot of people have had their lives slowly turned upside down and they're unhappy and a bunch of people who haven't had to deal with that shit are telling them to deal with it.
