I've never used the rack on my M6R so I'm gonna get rid of it
Do you ever roll the bike folded in shops, train stations, airports etc... ? Much better with rack.
After nearly 10 years without I finally got a rack recently and I love it for that reason (and also because I had to carry stuff few times, less to worry about max load than on the front...)
Not very hip hop though... -

Just unfold and go... I never roll the bike, I equally only lift it onto / off a train, or from a boot etc

As much as I can I do that, of course, but sometimes you're not allowed to roll a bike (shopping especially, tube, etc...) and sometimes it really helps, with the front bag open, used as a supermarket trolley. It's also more stable stationary with the rack. I love it and don't regret the extortionate cost of it.

I'm 6'6" and rode 11mi each way on a 2speed with S bars pretty much 5 days a week for a year. Found it to be fine...

Front wheels, is it cheaper just to buy a replacement complete wheel or rim on a wheel that is a single wall rim?
-
• #4757
I have a spare

Buy a sealed bearing wheel...

• #4759
Do brompton do a sealed bearing wheel?
-
• #4760
Yes, £95, not black though, or go on sjscycles.co.uk and you can get a jtek hub onto a cr18 or Brompton rim - black or silver, or we can build silver onto black / vice versa, or there’s Andra 20rims which are bombproof

Standard front wheels are £50, generally the brake surface wears out before the hub.
-
• #4762
Disagree, the hubs come out the box worn 😂
-
• #4763
But you have an interest in selling the ones twice the price 🤔
-

I brought mine before I worked for sjs, and recommended them too! They are infinitely better and the sjs built ones are not £95 like the Brompton superlight.

I never do that, I'll carry it in and throw it in the shopping trolley if I don't have a lock otherwise it stays on a bike rack outside... It's pretty useless for holding stuff, my heels have hit whatever was on there when I've tried to use it...

Thanks... Quite spendy when you add up all the bits and also currently sold out (like most things on the Oz Brompton site)...

Alternative folding pedals for a Brompton? Lighter and not so cumbersome would be good... And black, obvs...
-

I like the TPW ones tbh, a fair chunk of dosh, but they are a lot lighter!
-
• #4769
I'm contemplating trying some of these. There's a first and second generation quick release. They don't look too bad for the prices.

I was thinking about the MKS FD 7 but they stick out a fair bit...
PS Re: this video... Do skateboard wheels work as replacements for the stock wheels?!?

I have the TPW Ti Mini pedals on mine.
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/pedals-cleats/ti-parts-workshop-mini-pedals-titanium/They're very light, but the bearings inside them are tiny and I don't think they'll last very long.
My left one is feeling quite rough after a year or so's use.
To give you an idea of my mileage - its a 2013 bike, still on original brake pads and on its second chain and sprocket. -
• #4773
are they serviceable?
-
• #4774
Hard to say - I'll give most things a go - but I think in this instance, possibly not.
I stand to be corrected. -

They are on my list of upgrades, don’t really want to splash out if they aren’t serviceable or require sending back to maker to service.
But equally not sure I’d notice if the bearings did start to get a bit rough.
Don’t use the bike everyday but would like any upgrades to last the life of the bike of thereabouts, though I could be being optimistic..
You just need an l type guard and stay kit
