That’s actually a line that will shut them up. Who did Rolex copy them from?
-
• #28879
Longines were the first to have rotatable bezel, then Omega, Movado, JLC and a few others used them. Then Rolex got involved. Maybe Blancpain before Rolex also.
Mercedes hands are a little different. There is no evidence that Rolex pinched the style from Mercedes but it was either that or a modern stylised version of cathedral hands.
I could of course have my facts wrong. Google will probably prove or disprove my view.

They restock - I've found them good to deal with on email/social media etc

Not someone say mercedes as split to prevent cracking of lumen?

Ta, I was going to ask them via their chat box on Monday but then by bizarre coincidence my brother had the exact strap in the exact size stashed away in a drawer. Hoarding clearly runs in the family.
Edit. Come to think of it he told me about this strap in first place so maybe not that odd...
FedEx tracking says Monday before midday for my first proper grail watch to arrive, birth year Speedy!

Haha - I've also got that strap! It's a beaut

And congrats on the watch. Need a keyboard wristy this week then!

That is one of the theories, yes. Nobody really knows. Either way, Rolex weren't the first to do it.

That looks great!

Same movement as my speedbird GMT. Seems it's a very common issue with that movement. If the difference stays the same all the time then it's not too difficult to realign them, Alsal said twenty quid.

Ohhh... Still up for sale?
PM'd.

heh I bought one recently, it's pretty much my daily driver watch now. Was a chunk more than 379 AUD, was $355 usd (so 480 AUD).
Really really love it though

Cheeky for sale ad:
Nike Apple Watch 2 - 42mm waterproof version with GPS. Bought a year ago new from Apple (£379 iirc) and used almost exclusively for running a couple of times a week, used for Strava and listening to music without my phone. It’s pretty mint, no scratches or dings, the strap shows some use I guess but nothing a soak won’t bring back to A1. Box, charger etc as from shop. Only selling to buy a Forerunner. £175

Cool, thanks for that. Still annoyed I missed out. They were selling the all black model too but doesn't appeal as much.

Yup . Just been stung for £41 by DHL for my SKX009 which is landing shortly.
DHL website not letting me pay with a Debit Card either. Grrr

I know, they're Quartz. I do fully appreciate these watches though. Mechanical isn't for everybody.

I adore my G-Shock analog watch precisely because it is quartz + radio (atomic), but also because it charges the battery by solar.
These Junghans are so close to being perfect for me. I may indulge anyway, but I hate that battery watches never seem to get as much life out of the replacement batteries (why is that?) and would have preferred solar to keep it ticking longer.

Probably simply the quality of the replacement battery. I'm fairly sure that most outlets that replace watch batteries do not buy the good ones. Similarly, it is nigh on impossible to buy legit batteries on eBay if you're doing it yourself.
-
• #28896
Agreed. You gotta buy lithium and preferably Swiss batteries (like Renata).

I bought a bunch of Duracell and Energizer CR2032 on eBay last year. Looked legit. As did the seller. I reckon they had 10% of the charge of the ones I bought in Tesco to replace them. The eBay ones were utterly useless. Undervoltage and under capacity. I assume it is the same for watch batteries.

Going to see if I can get Antique Watch Co in Clerkenwell to put a new battery in this today.

UFO. Reminds me of the Hamilton from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Just been to see my cousin who’s back visiting from Asia, spotted her husbands watch straight away. He works in fairly serious headhunting work, I can’t remember exactly what. Vintage Rolex GMT, absolutely immaculate.
“Nice watch man!”
“Thanks, I got it from my brother”
“That’s a nice present, what a great brother to have!”
I completely forgot his brother had died rather suddenly, the week after their Dad.
ground fails to swallow me up
