I'm 195cm, with ape arms, and I prefer the M-type. With the S-bar the reach is too short and the drop too big; I can ride it, but it's not comfy for more than a mile or two. The M bars are more or less level with my saddle, which works well for me.
I'm 6'6" and rode 11mi each way on a 2speed with S bars pretty much 5 days a week for a year. Found it to be fine...
