It's been a good start. See my posts in the weather thread.

So I've gone and got myself an allotment
It needs a bit of work. Some raised beds. Not sure weather to keep the apple tree. It would be a shame to chop it down though.
Any ideas for layout, essential to have down there would be great. There is a water supply and regular horse muck apparently.

Regular horse muck is great! My current source is a 3 mile ride on the cargo bike, not ready to get any yet as we are still clearing... what a mission it’s been so far..

You put decking on your allotment?
-
• #2735
Aye! 75% to be cultivated, so 25% is decking, compost, water butts, tool box, bench and wood storage, then next on the project list is a self built greenhouse/plant nursery...
With the little human it just means she has somewhere to chill safely, we don’t have a garden at home so it also covers that- the other people love it, and appreciate it means we spend more time there!
Plus, cider cooler in the tool box...

Yeah that's a great idea. A couple of plots near our last allotment had a swing.

Looks amazing plot and I would definitely keep the apple tree, they can be pruned to suit any occasion, plus its years ahead from buying new,

I have noticed a lot of allotments in Europe are places people get out of their town apartments and spend the weekends 0n. They have chalets on them.

Allotments here are strictly no sleeping overnight but good to spend the day

I know someone who regularly slept in their shed on their allotment in Herne Hill... Generally after another argument with his ex...

done but definitely not allowed

Aye! We would quite happily camp on ours but the tent is a bit big and not so sure it would go down well...

I am now seriously considering spending a night on the allotment - especially in this weather - who is to know ?
I've been down there at midnight and 5 am watering these days - yeah wild camping 10 minutes from home :)
Call me the night watchman. -

Why the fuck not?!? Do it, I would...

Yeah all I meant by the not allowed comment is that you can't be blatant and build a little chalet and rock up with your family for the weekend. But I'd have thought mostly no-one will know or care if you kip in your shed on occasion.

when should i prune my rosemary? i have a 1m diameter bush hat was looking sensational up until the hot weather, when we went away, and now it looks yellowish and leggy. i want to prune it back to thicken up (!) next year.
also, has anyone experience white fungus in soil? my vege patch had white fungus under the surface that i thought was ants, but was all around the root ball of a raspberry i pulled out

You can prune Rosemary all year round. Although after a burst is best to stop it getting extra leggy. I cut mine back twice a year normally to keep it at the same size.

Useful guide :) I mostly get honey bees.

Saw a hornet in my garden last summer, their wings make an amazing sound.
I've loved inheriting a garden from a keen Gardner. These came out this morning. Assume they're lilies of some type?
