Personally I’d get it recovered to the garage, but I don’t know the answer to your specific question I am afraid.

I’m not a mechanic but last month my ‘fan belt’ broke. One of the pulleys or the tensioner was faulty and I messed about too long getting it repaired and the belt broke.
I was told not to drive the car or start it by my mechanic. So I parked it and got it recovered.
The belt snapped and wrapped itself round the power steering pump amongst other things.
When the mechanic got to the car he replaced the pulleys, tensioner and timing belt. I was incredibly lucky that no damage had been done to anything. The mechanic advised that an unlucky outcome would have been a new engine.
The timing belt was changed because all the front of the car had to be removed to repair the fan belt and the timing belt would have needed changed next year so it actually saved me some money in future labour charges.
Total cost of repairs was £810 including recovery vehicle.
From now on, I’ll get repairs done promptly and not leave it until the part breaks.
The car is an Audi A6 and oddly it is driving better than ever now - apparently the timing had not been set up correctly by a previous mechanic. -

wow that's commitment. Couldn't you buy a new 911 for similar to your total outlay?

Thx for offering your thoughts all. Trying to get a hold of my mechanic before i have to leave tomorrow, by buss or car is the Q.
It was running so nice, even the throttle response was fixed and it was a joy to drive. Its incredibly tail happy which is bit unsettling at first but grows on you once you get bit more connected to the car. At first i thought it was very difficult to drive even at moderate aggression. Now it almost feels naturally esp with the fix to the throttle response (its not only off or on now, its almost got a range ha).

This is a BMW in which the belt broke. It’s written off.

Yeah that dont look like a lot of fun.
Ive checked my invoice again. And they changed 1 cambelt + bearings for that one and 3 others so they actually changed a total of 4 belts.
I dont think there are any more than 4 . Which would mean that the broken one is actually one of the replaced belts..
Bah.

Can you remove the belt?
You can get an emergency v belt.

https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-V-Belt-Replaces-Section-Belts/dp/B01E07KCY2 This is available from commercial or agricultural suppliers. -

That is a ribbed belt and has wrapped itself around the pulley, then caused issues.

Same as mine but the BM is wrecked. I was lucky.

Ive tried but its hard to see exactly where its stuck, cant really get my hands in there properly.
I can ofc cut it close to where its stuck, where pictured. The other half of the belt is hanging down under the car so i could cut that one from the other direction. But think there would still be a piece still jammed in to whatever its jammed into .) -

No, I've got quite a long way to go before I hit £100,000.
However, I could have financed a new 911 for quite a lot less than I've spent so far - but it would not be mine, and frankly I enjoy the project aspect.

You need to remove the belt fully. Cutting it won't help. Needs to be fully removed. Any bit left will cause issues.
Got a pair of mole grips? Try pulling or pushing the belt. If it has wrapped around behind the pulley it will be a pain to remove.

Modern stretch v belts, if not installed correctly, can fail quite quickly.

You in Sweden? Whereabouts? Have you checked the Swedish forums for car enthusiast? They’re often good for finding good local or specialiaed mechanics.

My experience of Swedish car enthusiasts (from Volvo forums) is that, given half a chance, they'll fit a turbo charger somewhat larger than the engine block.

Im not able to remove it fully as i cant really get in there properly.
This axle wheel / pulleys that its stuck around is not spinning when engine is running so does it then really matter if a small piece is still in there if i cut it? I must have driven 20-40 km before i even noticed the belt had snapped since i was on a straight freeway. I noticed the AC stopped working before i felt the lack of power steering (same axle). Only noticed that when i exited the freeway.

I spent 2hrs under the van by the side of the road in Washington fixing the filler hoses again. Fitted by the same shite mechanic and deteriorated twice in a year. Shit, non fuel rated rubber hose - criminal they're allowed to sell it. Cut a generic 45 degree hose to fit and some 3/4 in fuel line for the breather. No idea why the twats at the mechanics didn't do the same....ah.

I think my RAV4 is fixed! Replaced the wiring in the cam sensor (new sensor is lost in post, thanks DPD). And it seems to run like a dream again.
I think it's dead to me now though. Don't trust it at all, time to look for something else.
All the suspension and bushings look like they won't pass another mot and I can't be arsed to change all that too.
I've got a hankering for a 740/940 saloon . -

Aren't RAVs are dead to everyone?
Admittedly, last time I was in one was over 20 years ago but it was certainly dead to me.

If you are bored and can find it, check out vintage mechanics. It is in french but you see more happening to the cars. Carbs being rebuilt, brake calipers being rebuilt. Interesting vehicles that we don't see here.
There is lathe action too.

Unknown, but non-trivial, also somewhat open ended.

Criminal, imaging if there had been a fire.
Oh yeah forgot. Can i somehow dmg the power steering or similar by driving this as is Back to town? Likely not an issue right?
