On the later sections I’m now going fast enough to get (sweet) air over the jumps, which is fun, presume a slight nose down angle is best for landing?
-
• #680
Both wheels landing at the same time or marginally front first is safest.
-
• #681
Unless it’s a slow speed drop, you’d want both or rear then right?
-
• #682
Not really. You can’t steer the bike with the front wheel off the ground.
Unless you are super skilled. In which case do what you like :)
-
• #683
You can’t steer in the air anyway :)
I’d rather land rear wheel first than go over the bars. Maybe irrelevant for the type of riding you’re both talking about -

Here’s someone random having just enjoyed a front wheel landing
-

But we are talking about jumps Phil, not (badly) rolling off rock drops.
The same applies to drops - both wheels at the same time or front slightly first so you can control the direction of the bike on and immediately after landing. Front slightly first and you will never go over the bars, and on a hardtail you'll get the benefit of actually using that spendy suspension fork you paid for.

Huck to flat.
Damnit, Petersfield based ride tomorrow?

That was my thinking, unless we get Deluge II, Return Of The Rain.

I can confirm that this bike is faster than the Marin: https://www.strava.com/activities/1749005983/overview

The marin was a bit more burly IIRC.
Also y u no Red trail?

Feel like I'm still learning stuff on the blue one at the moment, should I do the red one next time?
-

should I do the red one next time?
I don't see why not. There's some stuff where you can get caught out as the difficulty and steepness goes up a notch. Just take it easy around red 20 onwards.

You can’t steer in the air anyway :)
Tell that to anyone that lives for air time. You can by swinging the momentum of the bike. You can even lock a certain wheel in the air to use the inertia to change angle a fair bit.

Could also be the dry conditions. Does Swinley have loose dust or sand on the trails?
Somewhat belatedly, but you can kinda make out the surface on the pic of Indra. 90% of the trails seem to be stony paths. No grip there

You just need a Supertacky 2.5" Minion.

on the pic of Indra
All I could notice was that Indra's legs were becoming separated from his torso O_o
Got chased by a dogue there today. Again. Fun times.
