  • So I missed out on that ti Omnium, I think I’m going to regret that for some time. So I’m looking at the pre build Omniums, but the specs look a bit shit and expensive at £2060.

So I’ve been pricing up a self build as follows

    Omnium Frame - £970
    Xt group including brakes/ 1x chainset(no rotors! Wtf) £449
    Rotors - £56
    Xt hubs -£54
Rims (Archetype rear, bmx rim £40 ?) -£100
    Wheel build / spokes - £130
Sundry expenses front tyres etc - £100

Bar, stem, saddle, seatpost, I’ve got

That gives a total of £1859

Am I missing anything? The frame comes with headsets (I think)

I like the idea of building it up with with a road / cx drive chain but that looks like it would increase the cost by at least £300, road disc brakes are expensive aren’t they!

  • Could save a bit on the wheels. Kinlin rim rather than archetype, lace them yourself and just have someone tension them up

  • I would strongly recommend the extender bar. Also, there's no real need to go for XT if you want to save money (I have the stock-spec albeit with custom wheels and brakes and shifting are more than adequate).

  • bmx rim

I nicked a used freestyle BMX rim.
It can sometimes be tricky finding a 406 with a hole count lower than 36.
    I think there's Halo model people use/recommend

  • I used an SLX 1x11 groupset on my Bullitt if you wanted to reduce the budget a bit. I've been very impressed with it.

    Mudguards maybe on the build?
