Three speed sturmey archer is always the answer...and you know it.

2 speed Superlight, forget the dynamo. Just remember to charge your lights once a week like normal people.

You’re best off riding an S and an M. I’m your height and love the ride of the S but it’s like riding a lopro - front end is so low, anything beyond a few miles is uncomfortable. Doable, and fun (for short trips), but uncomfortable. M is a good functional height, and you can adjust reach a bit by tilting the bar forwards.
But yeah, get a ride on each bar, try your local Brompton dealer or the forum.

Get yourself down to Compton Cycles in Catford, Neil. They’ll have all the options to try and will be amazingly helpful.

This “s” works best for me. Furthest I have had to ride was 15 miles and it was fine.

My 2 speed, on your road, made me deploy the 24inch gear - luckily, I don't go up there very often. Around town, the rest of the time, the 2 speed is absolutely fine.
Another plug here for Chris Compton in Catford.
ETA If you want to try my 2 speed, S-barred, Ti, you're more than welcome to, but I think you are taller than my 169cms, and my seat post is maxxed out.
I'm down the hill and over the railway line from you. -

Does anyone want to do London - Brighton on brompton? 11/12 or 18/19 aug weekend?

Not particularly

I had this on my s and then swapped the flat bars out for some risers and now have no issues with riding 6miles plus on it. 6 Miles plus at city riding pace, but will happily do Stockwell to Hammersmith on it..

I'm 195cm, with ape arms, and I prefer the M-type. With the S-bar the reach is too short and the drop too big; I can ride it, but it's not comfy for more
than a mile or two. The M bars are more or less level with my saddle, which works well for me. -

What risers do people recommend for the S type? Been meaning to do it for ages but have never got round to it.
-
• #4745
Better off going for risers on an m stem, Joseph kuosac risers, looking at the sales, are hugely popular, added to an s type you make an m type, add to an m type you get a SM mid type!

I’ve got some renthals on mine about a 3 cm rise I think..

Has anyone tried these 'Brompton' cranks from China via ebay, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-square-Crank-for-Road-Brompton-Folding-bike-BCD-130mm-CNC-Made/263842745284?hash=item3d6e40cbc4:m:mmTkUmYoAg15DUfRHu8DvrQ ??
I'm currently on the lookout for some nice square taper cranks (not for a Brommy) and these look pretty good, can't see that there's anything that actually makes them Brompton specific.

Fitting a pair on a project bike as we speak, light, no doubt, but not for me. 10nm and the crank bolt sheared, so currently got to get that drilled out... superlight stuff is fancy, but it’s certainly no where on the level with Brompton stuff that’s generally suitable to last the distance

Cheers, would be to go on my fixed road-type bike so will give them a miss and look for something a bit sturdier.

I've never used the rack on my M6R so I'm gonna get rid of it, anything I should watch out for? Will I need bigger wheels?
Chainring ordered, Sugino 75s will be going on soon...
And very fat
