HR - so office based. I'm sure there are jobs outside of EC1, and I've been told I'm probably worse of renting / buying in London on a 'higher' income than elsewhere in the country. It's the lack of choice which is daunting

I guess every company (of a certain size) needs HR people! I see a lot of jobs up in Manchester in my industry (marketing/copywriting) but my wife works in retail and there are FAR more companies in London than up here.

Where I am there is literally nothing to the point that I don't take my wallet out anywhere unless specifically going somewhere. I'm not going to stumble on any pubs/places to waste my cash. It feels weird but at the same time good!

What line of work are you in? I'm a freelance writer so I do a fair bit for my old employer (London based) and others. Only one northern company, and that's incidental because all my leads come from the net.
