what bladed spoke options are there?
Depends how hard you're prepared to look. Sapim CX-Ray generally has the best distribution, and like DT Aerolite fits normal round spoke holes. Pillar, CNSpoke and Mach1 have similar options, and all five of the above mentioned also have wider options which require keyholed hub flanges.

Thanks.
Ideally looking to match these DT Swiss blades which seem to be just under 3mm wide, don’t have digi calipers..

Does anyone have a cheap but decent pair of 32/32h, 100/135QR, 11-speed, disc hubs for sale? Used okay if they're in good working order. Not much coming up on eBay/classifieds.

You can get some new deore hubs for less than £40, older XT for less than £60 new.
-

The Shimano ones I looked at at those prices were all 10-speed. I'd just get another set of Novatec D791/2SB if I'm spending that much. Was hoping there might be some built-but-never-ridden Novatec equivalents out there going for £25 or something like that.

I’ve been looking at building a new cx wheelset. The Novotel 772 hub which I used last year has been replaced with 792 but is the rear spacing really 142. What are my hub choices in the novatec price range?
-
• #7684
142 is 135 with a different axle:
http://nguide.eu/hubs/d792sb-11s
you should be able to change it to a qr axleThis hub supports MULTI-AXLE SYSTEM
otherwise dt swiss 350 or shimano xt....

So I know the forum recommended rims are kinlin xt 31 - but on paper the stand grail ztr look better (lighter, good shape, supposedly easy to set up tubeless).
Any reason why the kinlin are actually better rims? Which would people go for on a dynamo front wheel only build, will probably be used with a hunt 4 seasons or gravel disc rear?
-
• #7686
Fragile & expensive.
-
• #7687
Price is not that different to Kinlin - are they really fragile? They say they're suitable for cross! Not doubting you, I'm just surprised..

Hmm... Had seen weight quoted as 385g, which led me to usual Stan's concerns about robustness, but on their site it's apparently a more respectable 460...
I also don't see what the fuss is about with the XR31t; it's overpriced for a sleeve jointed rim, it's aero profile is OK but not great, and its shiny black finish looks fine but is not as nice as the bead blasted ones available on similarly priced rims. I guess it's proven to be reliable, but it's the boring, safe choice.
Take a sip of Dr. Pepper and get the Grail, ha!
How many holes? -
• #7689
I'd not heard any usual concerns about robustness - somehow I thought stans were all rock solid but that might be me being influenced by the advertising (names like iron cross?!)
Will prob end up with 32 holes anyway as 28 hole dynamo hubs are hard to find, so should be pretty robust. Ideally I'd find a 28 to keep weight and aeros decent, but locating one is not easy

One for @thecycleclinic, is there any likelyhood of a Mavic Open Pro UST with Exalith this year?

Anyone seen a freewheel spacer for sale in EU/not US?
like this:

Anyone know who makes BLB spokes, or if they're any good? Was just pricing up some spokes for a new pair of wheels and found these: https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/blb-bladed-spokes-black
£30 for 140-150 spokes must be a misprint, but if they're not totally shit, they'll do.
-
• #7693
2.6mm wide? Unless you have slotted/keyhole spoke holes, they're not going to fit.
-
• #7694
Good point; just double-checked and the old bladed spokes (now too short due to higher-profile rim) are 3.1mm wide and the hub spoke holes are slotted.
Otherwise fine, or..?
-
• #7695
If the photo of the spokes in the pictures is same as the product(s) for sale, the rose petal/wavy star logo on the head means it's made by HTI in Taiwan (source of this info). Guessing their website is a bit out of date because a bladed spoke of those dims isn't listed, but being Taiwanese, quality should be fine.

Thanks, I've ordered them.

I think I have an extra somewhere. Used, but functional.

Anyone able to identify these hubs and rims? No branding anywhere on them

Ah perfect, definitely looks right.
Recommended wheel builders in north/east or central London?
Also what bladed spoke options are there?
