  • No worries. We had to use it every day for the past 2 years to keep the bathroom from moulding over but it's just been renovated so we've got nothing to use it for...

  • Any one using a spray gun to paint wood and walls at home?..
I'm following a couple decorator on the insta
The level of finish is impeccable. And far superior to traditions methods.
Is this the reserve of professional?
I'm sure low cost spray guns are available now.

  • I'm really struggling to find a pleasing solution for flooring to metro tiles on the walls?
Ideally the walls will be tiled dark green or blue with white suite, I could be persuaded to go to light blue or green if the flooring is easier to resolve.

  • Probably worth deferring to Airhead on the spraying question

  • For our internal kitchen door, we have a 3 bolt sash lock. looking to replace it. ideally it would be a lock that can be opened from inside the rest of the house without a key, but access from the kitchen would be by a key.

a yale nightlatch lock would fit the bill, but would take a big chunk out of the door frame, and look a bit shit, and I'd have to drill a hole in the door.

Is there anything better that fits the brief - ideally that fits where the existing sash lock is?

  • Best place to get fence panels? Need 4 of them. Local builders merchant or are there specialists I should be looking at?

  • If you can see them in person, you can select ones that aren't warped.

Timber yards are pretty good - Alsford, Champion etc...

  • We've just had Karndean put in ours... like Amtico, it's vinyl with wood effect. It can get wet, is warm and quiet underfoot and super hard wearing.

  • FiL has this in his kitchen. It's astonishingly tough. He's got metal footed chairs without any scuff guard things and even with my 3000 stone weight there's not a scratch or a dent. Coming from pine floors at our old place it's a revelation. Definitely getting some in here at some stage.

  • I hate all these decisions. Sometimes wish I wasn't so particular with the image in my head.
    How much a SQM?
I've been looking at wooden type tiles ordered some samples as I like the herringbone effect you can achieve, does this come like that do you know?

  • As a rough estimate, we just had our bathroom and hallway stripped down to the subfloor, insulated, re-covered w/ 18mm marine ply, fitted with Karndean then skirting fitted for £2.5k.

It's about £50 a sqm i think for planks themselves.

The herringbone stuff can be ordered in that length / size but i think it's individual planks.

  • This.

My parents have had it in their kitchen on downstairs hall for at least 10 years and it still looks the same as the first day it was put down.

  • Whereabouts are you based?

  • Holy cow these are great. Think im going to be after the same kinda thing sometime in the near future... any more details? supplier?

  • Ta, been meaning to find some timber merchants around here. Will look at those.

@mespilus South East London, in Lee

  • There's a champion timber right around the corner from me in Bromley. They're super helpful...

Maybe give them a call before you head over but i'm pretty sure they have a decent stock of fence panels.

  • There’s an Orchard Fencing in the middle of the Corbett if you don’t want to travel very far.

  • Thanks, will investigate further!!

  • Hmm, I don't know if this will help you,
    but,
the Executive Panels made by Lewis Tyler in Hatfield are the best I've used.
The framing is substantially better dimensioned and the featheredge is thicker,
    and,
they are made from local grown/harvested timber.
I do not know if they deliver 'South of the River',
but a quick phone call should tell you if they have a stockist local to you.

  • Those frameless windows a page or two back.

  • Maybe ages ago. Or maybe I’m going crackers.

  • Ages ago fam! I’m onto the kitchen now.

They’re Velfac windows which I finished with solid timber reveals of my own design. Popping up tonight to check how much damage the plasterer has done to them while I’ve been looking the other way....

  • OHHH IM A BOZO, sorry.

Look bloody amazing though, any new pics? This your 9 to 5?

  • A Euro sash lock with a cylinder that is keyed on one side / thumb turn on the other.
