@TomvanHalen has a set I know, cleared a 2.00 for sure
-

On looking them up they look to be able to clear up to a 2.5 - definitely the clearance, then. Beyond that, are they the ones you’s would recommend?
I need some killer brakes because the current ones feel like they’re made of cheese. I do have some new Deore ones to put on for now, though

they're wicked, yeah, but make sure you get them in fluoro green or orange.
alternative would be the old skool xtr parallel push, they're certainly not lacking in power

As far as the original HS33s go, if you want to stay retro, I would not recommend them for anything much above 2.1 or thereabouts, unless you elect to use a different brake bridge, which is where the clearance problem lies (and they dictate how far apart you can set up the brakes, to an extent). I had to snip the second hole off mine, (same as this picture) in order to clear a 2.0 Bontrager XR1 on a wide rim.
Presumably the modern ones and aftermarket boosters don't suffer the same issues.
But they aren't fluoro.

Fluoro?! Orange?!
Sacré bleu!

I could possibly sell you some XTRs tho

Remembers when XTR V's hit Merica :)
Followed by lots of Mericans hitting the floor at speed and lots of law-suits against shimano.
Followed by brakes being shipped set in low power mode, and little widgets jammed into the mech which had to be user removed to flip into High power, thus putting the blame on end users who blamed Shimano for making brakes too powerful.......
never had a set, at the time braking power was unreal.

Yeah I was going to opt for some modern ones. Flouro doesn’t look like the way, to be fair haha

Very good price, just a little too yellow

Okay - I’ve been looking high and low for tyres for this bike. I want something light for the city. Nothing slow, heavy, knobbly. I’m ideally looking for wide slicks. I’m looking for at least 26x2.0”. Anyone got any ideas?
-
• #166
Just realised they don't actually have them.... But if you can find some.

Schwalbe Kojak, Marathon Supreme
-
• #168
I can’t seem to find any, though, visually, they look the same as the Schwalbe Big Apples. I think I’ll get a pair of them - 26x2.15/2.35

The super Moto is a fair bit lighter as it doesn't have the puncture protection of the big apple... But as such, they feel faster on the road.
I got my 29er version from Germany somewhere. -

The motos also don't have any horrible reflective stripes. :)
-
• #171
Reflective stripes? How about no

There is literally nothing better than Schwalbe City Jet. And that's because they're awesome.

Maxxis DTH?

This bike has been stolen. If anyone sees it, let me know. Thanks

Okay, so, I have some cash to put towards this project and want to know where to start.
I’ve been considering those Magura hydraulic rim brakes. Has anyone used them and have any idea what the tyre clearance is like?
