• and I was totally won over by Basel, mostly after seeing people swimming to work in the river. Obviously its Switzerland so inordinately expensive but yeah, incredible part of the world.

  • people swimming to work in the river.

Known as Wickelfisch swimming, because you put your clothes in an inflatable bag which doubles as a buoyancy aid. Which is known as a Wickelfisch. @Cyclsite wants to try it. On the upside, she lives in Basel at the moment. On the downside, she can't swim.

  • Honestly, coming from Glasgow where the river Clyde is known to blister skin if contacted, it was incredible. Quality of life seemed pretty great.

(okay, I'm kidding about the clyde, there have been fish returning to the river recently, but still)

  • It's great fun but I honestly wouldn't recommend it for people that can't swim, currents can be a bit too strong to handle if you don't know what you're doing.
