  • @jambon I did the same. I used a similar part from an old 90s cantilever brake like below. Called a 'brake pad eye bolt'. Only issue is that they are longer than the rack ones and the thread does not go all the way up to the top so you need some spacers. But works fine.

  • Thanks for this, also good to know what these very specific things are actually called which can be half the battle. I ordered a lamp holder and will liberate the bolt thing from that, obviously paid over the odds but needed it for this weekend's ride.

    Will probably get some of those as spares, ta!

  • Thought I should mention, the picture of the bolts up there are some nice titanium ones from Compass which probably cost as much as your lamp holder. The ones I used were from a Shimano STX mid-range canti, were much less elegant, more like these:
