1×10 SRAM would be well cheap for you to do no? You can get the shifter for £10. Bet you've got an Exact Actuation derailleur and GXP BB lying around? Add a Sunrace bargain cassette and chainset and you're done. Not as fun as 1×11 but ultra cheap.
