Thunder burts are well loved by the american bikepackers.
Ive got some and they are definitely roll well and have the 'supple'.Mine have had a few snakebites but thats probably due to running them tubed on skinny rims

Thunderburt, Thunderburt, Thunderburt. Fast, supple, reliable, loves tubless, and does off road incredibly well. Currently using it in conjunction with a Furious Fred Front.
Brilliant combination.

Right so I'm gonna go on a weekend off road touring in the Lake District and gonna go for some bigger knobbier tyres so I can able to get through stuff I wasn't able to with the 1.9 Gravel King.
As my bike can handle proper MTB tyres, I'm trying to decide which;
Panaracer Comet 2.0 - cheap and cheerful, roll nicely on the road.
Continental RaceKing 2.2 - supposedly the fastest MTB tyres.
Speed King 2.2 - Look like it be great on tarmac with a bit of knobs.
Schwalbe Thunder Burt 2.1 - supposedly a good all rounder.
I'll get rid of the mudguard to give more clearance and fit wider handlebar/shorter stem, and replace the 46t with a 42t outer chainring (it already got a 11-42t cassette)
