had a lovely weekend with fellow forum functional fan @Tijs staying over.
the muddy fox is breathtakingly good in the flesh!
thanks to SBC for sorting out a canti niggle, and big up Tijs for being excellent company, and clearing the infamous velopark MTB hairpin bend on my borrowed 29er! wishing you tailwinds all the way

Not as chuckable as a 26er, eh?
Thanks a ton again, you were truly an incredible host.

You mean FLICKABLE

Hard to judge the dimensions but that looks very similar to the Daruma bolt I just removed from my Velo Orange mudguards when I put them on a different fork.
You can get such a thing here, https://www.velovitality.co.uk/products/fork-daruma-for-mudguard-fitting
But if you're in London then I'm guessing there's probably an lbs with one in their spares box near you?

Good point, may have one in my parts bin from when i got my GB guards. My plan is to see if the couple of machiners I pass on my commute can help and take it from there. Cheers 👍

Right so I'm gonna go on a weekend off road touring in the Lake District and gonna go for some bigger knobbier tyres so I can able to get through stuff I wasn't able to with the 1.9 Gravel King.
As my bike can handle proper MTB tyres, I'm trying to decide which;
Panaracer Comet 2.0 - cheap and cheerful, roll nicely on the road.
Continental RaceKing 2.2 - supposedly the fastest MTB tyres.
Speed King 2.2 - Look like it be great on tarmac with a bit of knobs.
Schwalbe Thunder Burt 2.1 - supposedly a good all rounder.
I'll get rid of the mudguard to give more clearance and fit wider handlebar/shorter stem, and replace the 46t with a 42t outer chainring (it already got a 11-42t cassette)

650b? I have some 2.1 Vittoria Mezcal you can have cheap.
Would consider Specialized Fast Traks too

Thunder burts are well loved by the american bikepackers.
Ive got some and they are definitely roll well and have the 'supple'.Mine have had a few snakebites but thats probably due to running them tubed on skinny rims

Thanks a lot, this should give me more to go on. Thanks again

failing that just buy a lamp holder ;)

That's not a bad idea actually, paying over the odds for the whole lamp holder should be my punishment for swinging on the spanner like an ape. Went into a local commercial metalwork firm this morning with the smallest of bolts I felt like a right chump.

Of your bike you silly goose.
@amey good find on the extra long stays, I thought they were like hen's teeth in the UK. And the price isn't in triple digits either.
