Was looking at this in Decathlon the other day too - very interested to hear what people think (since I don't really know anything about tents)
-
• #1404
I had always assumed that min weight is without the bags, but including the tent and pegs.
300g for the two (possibly three) stuff sacs seems about right. -

Just ordered this as was out of stock in store . Will report back

I have a snugpak stratosphere and tarp I've used a couple of times I am considering selling if anyone is interested.
The missus has expressed an interest in camping more so I might replace them with a lightweight 2 person tent and just savour the extra space when I'm solo.

Gonna have a test set up in the garden soon. This will be my camping set up for 20days around Europe. 24l bag with lots of room still for clothes and essentials.

Forgot the tarp needs a walking pole as well. (Silly me ) May order one or see if I can get away with a branch .
-
• #1410
no, don't buy a pole. instead use:
- any decent length branch
- a tree
- your bike handlebars
- pipes on the side of a building
you get the idea..
- any decent length branch

Groundsheet?

Would you recommend that sleeping mat?
Need to order one myself. Just been looking at these in Decathlon.
Was kinda hoping to spend less given how little I'll use it. But the self inflating ones seemed pretty shit and a foam mat is too bulky.

Thanks @jgadd
In addition:
Recommendations welcomed for a bivvy bag - hoping to leave the tent at home given it weighs 3.5kg - plus only got single night trips planned. Needs to fit me (6'6"). Something like this seems ok. But then this is cheaper and slightly longer. But will it just turn me into a boil in the bag sweaty mess?Alternatively this seems like a mega bargain. All the other listings of this are around £100+ Not sure its long enough though. 225cm long with pointy ends suggests I'd be getting a wet head or feet.
Also sleeping bag liners seem like a good idea. Should I get one?
Potentially only using these things for less than 5 nights/year. Possibly less.

just buy the cheapest thing possible

That snugpak is well cheap. I have one and it's decent enough for the money, if a little bit sweaty and lacking in breathability.
Suspect it's either listed wrongly or fake, but can dispute if it's the latter. Either way 27 quid is a small enough amount for me to take a punt on it so I've bought a second one for my missus

Can I ask about internal sizing? Is 225 accurate or with the tapering of the sides am I better off going with something bigger? I suspect the usable space is closer to >200cm long.
-
• #1418
I agree, this is my intention, just want to get something I can fit into.

Depends on sleeping bag IMO. Cheap synthetic bag - don't worry, you can just wash the bag; expensive down bag - yes, it'll stay warm and clean for longer. Also if you're going to be in it for a week or longer (doesn't sound like it) get one

To be completely honest I'm not sure. I'm 6ft2in and had plenty of space the few times I've used it so far. That's probably of little help to you
-
• #1421
Nah thats great. 4" isn't a great deal (obligatory 'thats what she said'). I'll order one, see if it arrives. Can always return.

Synthetic. One of these:

Thanks.

Comfortable and doesn’t deflate at all. Found it quite narrow at legs but I move a lot in sleep. Should have considered ground sheet. Ended up pitching up at 11pm in dark last night and managed to set up in an area with little grass. Pretty shit night sleep but good morning view .

Has anyone tried the single person Decathlon tent: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/trek-900-1p-trekking-tent-id_8492462.html
1.3kg for £95 looks pretty good.
I had a look at one last time I was in one of their stores, but would be curious to know if anyone has used one in anger.
