You get used to it, but yes that's a good stratgey many do adopt.
Being thin and tall makes it easier to cope.

well i've got the tall part...
as for easier, i'm going for the TAWR next year which is shorter but not too much easier, from what i've heard. I probably fare better in the rain than in the heat, though.
