Also, no idea of budget but even the 79v series Forrester is good. Can easily be had for around $5k.

What's the difference? Found a 79V near me and it looks pretty good, may pull the trigger sooner rather than later... Tho' my gf is now starting to backtrack, this is after moaning at me to get a car pretty much every day since we got here... There's no pleasing some people...
Also found a half decent Corolla Estate nearby, they're quite rare over here, but I can't get very excited about that...
