  • He still went into the left hander at completely the wrong angle.

    Yep.

  • Yes, as @boredom said he trusted moto’s line and misjudged the curve.
Same descend where Casartelli lost his life.

  • Yea he turned way too sharp, wheel stopped turning for a moment - you can see the jarring/jolting moment where he should have been leaning, not turning.

I think it shows his excellent skills that he remedied the mistake, at speed. He just ran out of road before the wall. Had he done it a meter sooner, or had a meter more road, he woulda kept upright.

  • Whats the scheduled finish time today ?

  • Did Demare make the time cut yesterday? Or was he allowed to continue? He was 40 minutes or so down

  • C'van 15:19, 30km/hr 17:18, 28km/hr 17:27 and 36 km/hr 17:39 - all local times, so subtract an hour for UK.

Be interesting to see what the actual pace is - it's either up or down with no flat for 65k!

  • Dem zigzags

  • Cool . Be home to see the finish if i average 25 kmh

  • Careful on those descents...

  • Gilbert seemed to lock up. Might have had more control on discs?

The awful ‘Wolfpack’ shit aside, Alaphilippe is fast becoming a favourite of mine. Seems to really enjoy mugging at the camera and said he wanted to wait for Yates after the crash on the descent before getting overruled by his DS.

  • Yeah and piss-poor journalism when you are asked civily to back up an assertion you made by saying 'yea I saw it on the telly yesterday'.

If Sky are doing that and it gives them an advantage then good on them. I reckon other teams would find volunteers easily enough to do it too. Barry is a fucking weasel to try to make it out as something nefarious and unfair.

  • Heard a well placed fan scampered down and him helped back up, chapeau

  • It will be very interesting to see how he develops as a rider, does he have a future as a stage racer?

Ag2R put four riders into the break yesterday leaving Bardet isolated. Seems a bit daft

  • Sad to see Gilbert out of the race, but glad he didn't drop any further.
I'm really enjoying Alaphillipe's rides, he's a lot of fun to watch.

  • should have been leaning

    wot?

  • So what time does this fiasco begin today?

  • I'm pretty sure I remember seeing Michelton Scott staff doing this exact thing on one of their backstage pass type videos just a couple of days ago.

  • Sssh that is not the acceptable narrative, no point letting petty things like facts get in the way of cycling journalism.

  • 2.15pm our time iirc
Itv live is on at 2pm

  • Thanks.

Will be watching on Eurosport, I've developed Stockholm syndrome to Kirby's sycophantic jingoism (plus only way I can watch it at work). I'm sure he'll be creaming his pants as his beloved G takes up grid spot 1.

  • I've developed Stockholm syndrome to Kirby's sycophantic jingoism

I don't know how it's happened, but me too. Glad I'm not alone

Really enjoyed Alaphillipe's win, it was really enjoyable watching how happy he was! Swaggering his way in, trying to get the crowd excited, very good.

Considering sacking off an afternoon of writing to go to a pals to watch this afternoon. Am ignoring andy against all logic and daring to dream of fireworks

  • ^^ We'll have ES on here at work, ad breaks seem shorter than itv's but maybe not?

ES android app is great for uninterrupted coverage option, does mean even more commentary though (they used an ad break to chat cheese making at the weekend) & it would kill my data allowance so is a wifi only option for me.

  • He moved to live in Andorra earlier this year to work on climbing which suggests he’s keen to develop.

Whether that’s solely to be in the mix for the Worlds this year or as a longer term goal, who knows.

Would be nice if he could turn into a nice guy Mario version to Valverde’s Wario.

  • Got the ES app just now for today, probably not the best idea as I am chasing target. Hopefully Rob Hatch not Kirby, he got the nod for the Roubaix stage

Mind you I will be having the sound down anyway

  • I've driven through Saint-Lary-Soulan a few times using the Aragnouet-Bielsa tunnel to get to Ainsa to go MTBing. I remember seeing signs on the D929 near Arreau for a turning west towards Col d'Aspin and Tourmalet, assumed that's where they'd be going when I heard the route would be in the area.

The road up to the tunnel would be a pretty good finishing climb, but they probably wouldn't get to close it for a race since there isn't an alternative route to access the villages further up the valley than SLS.
