  • Nah they're relatively new but they sat with shit CA gas in the rails for 3 years. Causes havoc.

I might try dropping them in my mate's ultrasonic tank, but really I want them done properly.

  • I have just collected a monaro that hasn't run in 3 years, was told that the injection system was fucked as well as the uprated brake calipers and discs....the owners widow was offered scrap value for the vehicle.

Looking to clean the injectors out, fluid change then take it on a day out....to paris on the non auto routes and see if that cures the brakes. Out friday back Monday.....

  • Can any of you knobheads identify this bus? Best guess so far is a Morris of some kind but can't find another like it on the Google...

PS I'm looking at buying a Mitsi Forester, think it might be the ideal car for us out here...

  • A subaru forester?

The grill looks like this Morris:

  • A subaru forester?

That's what I meant, tough day at the office... Wine is helping... Edited...

We saw that pic, lots similar but none exactly like that example...

I love the wheel arches, looks like it'd be super easy to turn it into a great looking hot rod...

  • Yeah there's a few that look like the same grill but upside down.
    Maybe a Leyland?

  • Suby Forester. Yeah good cars for down here. Plenty around and reasonably hardy. I went through a phase of wanting one and test drove a few. Pretty gutless but fine for our roads.

A lot that I looked at had had a fairly hard life though with either damage on every panel or oily leaking engines and large amount of float in the crank pulley. So choose carefully!

  • Pretty gutless

Bro, do you even Forester STi ?

  • Bumped into a colleague who owns one today, grilled her about it and it'll do us fine... Perfect first car, room in the back, 4WD when needed, four cylinders, etc... I'm on the hunt for one, gonna buy it before I've got my licence otherwise I'm never gonna learn to drive... Incentive is very low when I can do most things on my Brompton... Apart from go up to the Sunshine Coast to visit nonna, which I would love to do but can't because father-in-law is a fucking psycho and I'm not getting in a car with him for a 90min drive!!

  • Very sensible, got your priorities sorted out etc etc.

    But, Mad Max:

  • This guy lives around the corner from me...

  • Are you looking at auto or manual? Auto will be easier to find in good condition.

  • Exactly what I'm after... Haven't checked prices yet but they're everywhere up here so I should be OK I reckon...

  • Does Oz have a manual licence/auto licence division like the UK?

  • Yeah but no one checks it... Erin's fella has been driving his big manual Hi-Lux on an auto licence for years... He's been pulled over LOADS as well...

  • I think once you're on a full licence for 5 years you can drive anything... I think

  • Also, no idea of budget but even the 79v series Forrester is good. Can easily be had for around $5k.

  • If anyone is free on 4th August, and wants to come get their hands dirty changing an engine in Bromley, then let me know

  • I would have enjoyed that, but I'll be in Portugal.

  • I can come and lend moral support.

911 engine - engine builder is focussing on the intake port at the moment, which started off (flowbench figures) at 277 CFM at 0.5" lift.

That's now at 287 with some porting, but target is 300 (engine builder got 325 bhp from a 2.4 litre 4 cylinder running this level of flow).

To hit 300 we're looking at basically adding back in some short side radius - likely with epoxy.

The rest of the intake will be Jenvey ITB's, each in an enclosure that then connect via a 997 GT3 balance tube - which contains three flap-selectable sub-tubes, all of which can be called by the Syvecs unit to adjust for resonance effects in the intake tract.

The Syvecs S8 has enough outputs to run this as delivered, helpfully.

We'll keep most of the stock airbox and cold air intake snorkel, should calm down the intake noise a bit also which might help me get on track more easily.
