I thought I'd set it to EU only as that's the only automated post prices I set but there must be something I missed. The new design doesn't really help-it is massively more simplified but seems purposely done to remove options that limit the scope of sales to boost their revenue at the seller's ultimate inconvenience as per usual.

Tri sport resort, wiggles ebay outlet. Used parts selling for more than a new item from the wiggle website, & even odd random tat being bidded up quite high. What gives?
-
• #1231
I got a brand new front Mavic Aksium off them (Tri Sport Resort via ebay) and only realised it was Wiggle when I went to pay.
I paid like £40, exactly the same thing on the Wiggle site, £70odd.
Thought that the disparity in pricing was a bit bizarre.

Had an item advertised at £300 strictly cash on collection.
Guy emails and says what’s the lowest I’ll take.
I said I’m not giving it away and it’s already priced very reasonably but will consider a close offer.
He messages again today and says he’ll offer me £200 and will arrange a courier to collect next week.
FFS! I didn’t bother responding. Just blocked the twunt. -
• #1233
Don't take it so personally? You could just reply saying no thank you and you never know, he might up his offer.
-
• #1234
Nah; that’s a classic example of what I would call a timewaster.
His offer is bullshit and ‘arranging a courier to collect’ is quite different from cash on collection.
I’ve also said in the ad that I’d rather just keep it than accept a lowball offer. -

Guy emails and says what’s the lowest I’ll take.
These are code words for "I'm just calling to check if you are a mug or not. Are you a mug?"
Best to ignore any potential buyer who opens things up this way.

Or opens up by asking if there's not some imaginary fault... "is the wheel actually folded in half? I can't see in the pic. Would you take 20pence and a disinterested gobble from my cousin?"
-
• #1237
a disinterested gobble from my cousin?
Uninterested, surely? Unless the cousin's impartiality somehow affects the gobbling quality.

This cunt's habit of listing things in the wrong categories is boiling my piss.
There's no way its accidental, it must be some kind of weird marketing technique.
I reported a load of items a few weeks ago (incorrect category is one of the few things you can report items for) but ebay have clearly done fuck all about it as the chainsets and cranks category is jam packed with listings for brake calipers and mechs from him.

Synonym dear chap, synonym.
Damned if I want an emotionally detached beej anyway.

Synonym dear chap, synonym.
Oh no they're not. One of my opposite numbers got pulled up rather sharply in the Court of Appeal for getting that wrong.

Malheureusement cette argument me desinteresses.
SRS tho. The original meanings are correct and should be respected.

I need some advise, I'm highly likely to be bidding on an expensive item, for me at least (£2000 plus, hopefully a bit less) and its collection only from London and I'm on the south coast.
The seller has a good rating on ebay but only as a buyer, this looks like the first thing he's sold. I've exchanged a number of messages regarding the item with him and I happy(as I can be with out seeing it first hand) that everything is as it should be and he's on the level so to speak!
His advert say's payment by paypal, mastercard etc as normal rather than cash on collect as I would expect for a collection only item. Paypal is fine with me and would be much preferable in some respects, I don't fancy have £2k in cash in my pocket and I would prefer paypal to a bank transfer on collection.
What would be the done thing in these circumstances, if I win the auction (late on a Sunday night) do I just pay the full amount upfront, safe in the knowledge that paypal has me covered and then arrange to collect the item at a later date ? or is there the ability to pay a deposit and the rest on collection. I'm just wondering what the normal protocol is in these circumstances.

To an extent, it's up to you.
Some people in this situation might insist on physically inspecting the item before paying for it, regardless of the method of payment. So
- win auction
- immediately arrange to collect
- inspect and collect item, then in situ pay PayPal invoice
- sign something to say you collected it (if the seller is switched on)
- leave with item
It's up to you if you want to go down this route. It might piss the seller off, so if you want to do it please tell them that's what you'd expect and if they have issues with that approach raise them now. Of course you could inspect the item before the end of the auction - it's just a PITA to do so.
OR you could as you say immediately pay the full amount by PayPal. This is good for you as yes you are protected by PayPal and the onus is on the seller to prove you collected the item, so they can't just pocket the cash and say you collected it without some kind of evidence. I wouldn't bother doing some kind of deposit arrangement - in the event of a fucked or missing item claim it would complicate things.
Hope that helps.
- win auction

brilliant, thanks, just what I was looking for. I think I'll just pay up front at the end and arrange collection / inspection asap.
I'm sure I'm getting ahead of myself, the opening bid will be about the maximum I can pay anyway.

I enjoyed reading this listing and was toying with the idea of making a lowball offer but think he'd want that...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1974-Yamaha-FG160-Acoustic-Guitar-and-Hiscox-Flight-Case/183337265784?hash=item2aafc0aa78:g:orwAAOSw8mpbKl2H"I get a lot of questions about this guitar. They are so elaborate and specific, it kinda drives me crazy. I'm offering the guitar super-cheap, and these questions are the sort of questions you might ask if you were buying a guitar at ten times the price. Truth be told, all these questions are a right hassle, and I am done with them... asking me to take photos of the neck and the machine heads and blah blah blah...
So listen, just don't. If you are that bloody fussy, go to a guitar shop and buy one there!!! And pay three times the price!!!!
I have talked to my Mum, and she is happy to store my guitar when I go off on my travels. I've sold a pile of stuff on eBay already, so am no longer as desperate for cash as I was. In fact, I am putting the starting bid up to £175, because it includes a Hiscox Flight Case.... and if no-one buys it this time around, I am withdrawing it from any further auctions.
Read this review below, and be aware of what a bargain you missed out on when it was only £145... and weep! And if you are smart enough, you will realise £175 is still a bargain
Sorry, but I have had enough of time wasters, and this guitar is precious to me. I won't take anything less than £175 now. So don't hang on in the hope that I will relist it cheaper."

Hi all, can we complain about buyers on this too ? as I have had a real hassle when I sold a joblot of parts off on Ebay ( as parts only ) to a dealer vintage_haus, who decided ( no doubt after he had tried to use them all or make a profit and failed ) that he didn’t want them. When I rejected his return, Ebay backed me up, and yes, you know how unusual that is ! so he intended to pursue it through PayPal. It was £25 ! I know the buyer has already been blocked by a fair few other sellers over similar disputes, but really, its pushing the boundries of fairness don’t you think ? A private sale, perfectly described, no returns stated in the listing, supported by Ebay, and still they persist. Come on buyers, get a grip

ebay classifieds isn't much better.
list some good wheels cheap for a fast easy sale.
sixteen messages from one begging asshole later trying to scrimp every penny and every freebie he can get I snap and tell him to stop wasting my time. Now he says it's a matter of decency to negotiate and that he wants the wheels.
I would sincerely rather burn them in front of his face than let him pay me for them now.

I don't do auctions, or buy now best offer, anymore because buyers are so flakey. Buy an item, can you ship to Timbuktu for £20, oh actually I have a whole host of questions and photo requests I should have made before agreeing to buy the item. Just Buy it now, and buyer has to pay immediately. Lot less hassle.

Another chancer messaged me this morning "Hey I'm interested in this item but am really pushed for cash at the moment. Wondering what would your best price be?"
Oh so your really pushed for cash? Oh well maybe I should just give you the thing for free what with you being a total stranger and all! Oh wait, just a minute, guess what? Actually I don't give a fuck!
Blocked.
You can ask eBay to only allow domestic bids / BINs. I had to do that after a similar experience.
