Yeah, mine is untitled.
In general all the roads are fine, bar the one A road we have - the A12. Don’t go near that. Framlingham, Woodbridge, Westleton, Saxmundham, Aldeburgh, Walberswick, Orford, Bawdsey, Laxfield, Thorpeness all nice places to string together for a ride depending how much time you have.

Can someone help me out with a North London single speed route suitable for someone who doesn't ride a huge amount beyond a short commute. A couple of mates have asked to do a route or two over the summer and I have already done one to epping via the canal around 40km, they struggled up the one hill but made it. Both of them are pretty fit but haven't really done much.
Whenever I go out its on gears so most of what i know has a few too many hills.

Anyone have a good London- St. Albans route? Riding out w the Mrs tomorrow -- any help much appreciated!
-

Any particular reason you're riding there? I don't really know of any nice way of getting there - it's just busy suburban roads all the way out. Why don't you take the train and then go for a ride from there? St Albans / Welwyn Garden City / Potters Bar is basically where it's starts getting nice to ride. Can provide routes from WGC and Potters Bar...

Visiting some family up there so thought it would be a nice ride, but maybe you have a good point and should just get the train if there aren't any nice routes. Especially because there will be reluctance to ride on busy roads ...

yeah it's sort of only busy roads all the way out if you ask me. Jump on the train and then maybe go for a ride out that way, might be some nice cycle paths and some cute lanes out that way. I don't really know the area but I reckon 20 mins of research for cycling around St Albans would bring up something nice.

I would go this way if you were set on it. It'd reasonably pleasant, but it IS suburban af. Just follow the route and turn right at bedmond?

Awesome thanks for the advice!Hopefully will across some good routes from St. Albans

Can anyone suggest a good route to somewhere on the coast suitable for a Dunwich style overnight ride? Not Dunwich because have done it too many times. Not Whitstable or Brighton for similar reasons. Anywhere else? Maybe somewhere more SW (would be leaving from South London)? Probably 100-150km sort of distance, but further is possible.

How about down to Southsea, quite and interesting route. Easy to get back to Waterloo by train from Portsmouth harbour station.

Thanks, Portsmouth one looks good. Had just been looking at a fnrtc (or whatever it is) route to Bognor as well. One of those might be perfect. Though possibly one of the little places on the coast along from Portsmouth might make for a nicer final destination.
I know Andy in real life - hadn't thought of asking him. I think that route is a bit too Essex for this time... Definitely have a preference for heading SW I think. -

Anyone got a route suggestion from Corby / Northampton back to London? Ideally south east London but can deal with routing my way home; key point is a route towards that way that is nice (if anyone has ideas)?

Hi Guys,
Last week of august the missus and I are planning to leave East London and go for a little bike trip for a approx 4 days, possibly camping too.
She is relatively novice when it comes to bike but has great fitness outside of that so I think 75-100km max a day would be reasonable.
Any nice and gentle route you would recommend we could do?
-Would be nice to go somewhere on the coast but not necessary as long as scenery/road is nice
-We don’t mind taking the train to get out of London and get back from wherever we end up. -

Suffolk! Perfect.
Train to Woodford
Cycle North through the heathland and coastal areas, towards Lowestoft.
Follow bits of NCN 41, 42, 31, and then add your own detours
You could go to Orford Ness, Iken, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Minsmere, Dunwich, Southwold.
Sea swimming pretty much constantly and lovely beaches
Wild camping spots everywhere in little patches of woodland
Train back from Lowestoft -

Anyone got a loop from/around doncaster? Anything from 50-150k and preferably avoiding dual carriageways etc?

I'd be tempted to take the train to Sheffield (15mins) and then head into the peak. Sheffield CTC have some routes here which look pretty good: http://www.sheffieldctc.org/?page_id=3652

Just made this, might be handy for some. Safe and fast routes out from Lewisham to Kent.

Nice! Good idea. I remember spending ages trying to get out of London using Tfl maps the first time I tried, pre-gps...
I take it occasionally, but I'm not sure that the Yorkshire Grey rdbt before With an hill really qualifies as safe. @6pt might have something to say about it. It's more to be endured than enjoyed.
I have a pretty good route out from New Cross to layhams/west Wickham that I can post of it's of interest to anyone. It's not great but is mostly off busy main roads, flows well and has few traffic lights.

And good luck getting out through Chislehurst without any driver aggro :)
Not a fan of the Yorkshire Grey rdbt but in terms of expediency I’ve yet to best it. I have discovered a nice filtered permeability shuffle at the top of Eltham Hill that cuts out the lights at the top, though only of use if you’re heading out through Sidcup.

i saw the tour de suffolk on rwgps but it looked like some of it was on a-roads which I generally try to avoid...
