Seems like the most suitable place;
Looking for an alternative to a chain, to be worn around my neck when riding, to put my wedding ring on to. Suggestions? -

A good piece of lace

Gets kinkier.
What exactly would I google...?I was kinda wondering if they did one piece leather necklaces I could then tie through it but couldn’t find anything bar a million Etsy hits that arent continuous.

Mmmmm difficult.
Gotta be some nice thin lace cut to length, and an end piece attached. You kinda need to visit a craft fare or Old Spitalfields Mkt and find someone making ugly necklaces.
My plan for an heirloom ring that i had to stop wearing was exactly that - lace with it looped through itself to keep tight on the ring.
I had some incredibly nice horse leather lace, from Japan, but it is in the workshop in Italy and I lost the contact for the tannery company. That would be simple to tie the end or attach some closure system like a metal hook.

How desperate are you?
I managed to find the tannery details and have emailed about purchasing a few meters of a couple colours. If I get a reply and the price is low enough, I may have some super super nice stuff within a couple weeks.

Why no wedding ring on the bike? You going on clandestine bicycle dates? Fear of highwaymen?
-

Climbing cord - can be bought by length, easy to tie / retie and cheap
-
• #4337
No real rush. I’d happily chip in, could get a couple to last me...
-
• #4338
Thin leather cord and a reef knot perhaps.

Haha it’s a hard metal and a few weeks ago I caught it on a rail/ anti cycling barriers when running and it really hurt and swelled very quickly causing more pain. It’s given me the fear, should I come off.

Couple of weeks after I got married and started wearing a ring some fanny was telling me all about “degloving”, as it’s know in A&E.
-
• #4341
That’s exactly what I thought had happened. I didn’t want to look

Mine is my great-grandfather's and is a super wide flat ring, water enjoys pooling under and in the heat when the finger swells it can get uncomfortable. Between that and all the bumps and grazes it has taken over the last few years (on top of its first hundred before me), it deserves greater care.
Okay @GoatandTricycle hopefully they reply by mid-week. They were really nice and professional when I met them at a trade fare, the lace I planned to get is maybe 1mm. I can ask about a thicker one if that sounds too thin for you.
If you get some paracord or something else instead, no stress.
-
• #4343
Nope sounds good. Maybe a couple of thickness? Perhaps you could post an image, as I have no real idea what this is. DM me if/ when you need $
-
• #4344
The thicker one has a weird core, I didn’t like it. I will double check when they get back to me.
This is the leather lace on the business card holders, I have no idea where my sample is. Had to steal my own photo off of insta. The only other sample I had is in Italy -_-

Look for mtb short liners / undershorts.
Assuming you're wearing them under baggies that is. I had a scandalous mesh pair of Fox ones at one point.
-
• #4348
yeah, under baggies or solo if it's fucking hot.
found some options, just looking for a good recommendation. not experienced in all this -

Surprised Rapha aren’t going after Brian Holm for his knock off kit.
