do I need to be wary of how tight I crank up the nuts on the rear wheel?
Xav reckons they'll be fine at normal recommended torque. I always use chain tugs because it just makes life easier in general, and my wheel stays in place with just 8Nm on M6 bolts. If you want to stay within the load that a fucking tight Shimano QR skewer will exert on the dropouts, the maximum torque for M10×1 track nuts is about 12Nm, which is about half what most people would consider tight on that size of fastener and about a third of what a decent quality track nut and axle can safely withstand.
So I'm finally getting round to turning my P3 into a pursuit bike tomorrow. Got all the bits, all seems straight forward. One thing though: do I need to be wary of how tight I crank up the nuts on the rear wheel? I'm a little gunshy considering they're just carbon fibre!
