I would says the old 90’s MTB geometry is similar to an Arkose before they put more emphasise on stability, even weight distribution, less need to stay seated all the time, easier to keep fork straight with wider bar etc.
A 90s mtb with NORBA geometry and 26" is way more lively than an Arkose.

I thought we were past this now

How do you quantify "lively"?
Your statement is pretty arbitrary. -

I have optimised my bike's geo with 55.57 mm rake to get that exact 58.5 mm trail for blazing over washboards at 65 km p/h while leading my wolfpack gravoisseur bros

It is, especially with my new superwide Ti barz for that extra leverage on the downhill sections
-
• #4891
These new wide drops are just a ploy by bicycle companies to sell double the amount of bar tape.

I genuinely want to try bar that wide after riding with a 46cm handlebar.
Maybe the Funn G-Wide in 48cm or even 50cm might be a good upgrade, reach quite long tho, not sure how much shorter I can run my stem as.
-
• #4896
Get your hands wide enough apart, you can mount the bars behind the steerer, surely?
-
• #4897
Yeah the wider the bar, the shorter the stem need to be, Benedict did that with the Specialized;

650b
Different rim/tyre combos and tyres not sizing up as stated is always going to give a bit of error. My point still stands that it's nowhere near 2" difference in BB drop and that 650b shouldn't be dismissed because of it.
