80-110mm I would think.

Yeah tons of clearance for big tyres and autumn crap. I suspect I'd have to have some new rigid bike packing forks made though sadly, as my current (and awesome) steel ones are only 80mm corrected.

Slack HT plus short travel is fun. I mostly rode this at about 110mm

The Sherpa is made from a selection of Reynolds tubing and designed around a 100mm fork, though will work with 80mm to 120mm if you want to go steeper or slacker.

hmm thats the old model, I'll have to do some reading for the new one.

Reasons;
- 70km/h offroad is terrifying on a hardtail.
- Current Yeti is not designed for 1 X setup and chainline is awful. Can't take 36T so won't upgrade to 11spd.
- Fancy something new having ridden it in various guises over the years (incl. dropper, 50mm-110mm stem etc.) - current setup is perfect in terms of comfort, but would be all day worthy if full suspension. 50km is about my limit right now.
- Family addition imminent - will be my last new bike for a while... and the boss has approved.
29er is certain, 120mm max preferred. Lockout would be nice. Must be XL so 21"+
Speed and efficiency definitely priority over 'air' time. I do neither large jumps nor drops - multiple incidents have put me off! - 70km/h offroad is terrifying on a hardtail.

what is this, the gravel thread?

This is down to your cranks, not your frame surely
-
• #11718
Depends if the chainstays allow a large ring on the inner tabs
-
• #11719
Fair point. Goes on the outside of road cranks and as you can tell, I don't mtb :/
-
• #11720
Yup can only go on the outer. No space for anything on the inside.
180mm cranks too in narrow Q form. Not looking forward stopped having to track down similar for the new bike. Don't make me go back to 175mm. -

reasons 1 and 2 - not so sure.
reasons 3 and 4 - fair. I get you.new cotic solaris max?
complete builds are good value for money imo -
• #11722
There is a lot of surprisingly low range gear on off the peg bikes until you get well north of £5k.
I wouldn't want to ride a very expensive fs through winter.Default for your wants used to be Giant Anthem 29er with some upgrades.

Trek Fuel ex was my choice.
Also @spotter what travel bouncy fork does the cannondale suit?
