• Yup, this guy is the main driving force! Wow. So light, much fun.

    You're right though @platypus the spec is mediocre. And that's what i'm finding with a lot of bikes. The Epic Comp Carbon being a fine example, Reba on a £3500 bike??

    I simply want a decent pedalling bike that can be fun. I got scared off long travel stuff with a SC Tall Boy LTC which I had and it was too much bike.

    And what is with these bloody dinner plate cassettes on everything? I currently run 34 up front 36 on the rear and there is nothing I can't tackle. So any bike I do get will need to have the capacity to run a 36 so i can show how manly I am...

    Pic of current Yeti Big Top included so i feel like i'm at least contributing to this thread :)

    well, it's right there in your post. what's wrong with that bike? will pedal well and be fun.

    if you want more fun, add a dropper, shorten the stem a bit, and put on some tyres with a bit more bite

  • Reasons;

    1. 70km/h offroad is terrifying on a hardtail.
    2. Current Yeti is not designed for 1 X setup and chainline is awful. Can't take 36T so won't upgrade to 11spd.
    3. Fancy something new having ridden it in various guises over the years (incl. dropper, 50mm-110mm stem etc.) - current setup is perfect in terms of comfort, but would be all day worthy if full suspension. 50km is about my limit right now.
    4. Family addition imminent - will be my last new bike for a while... and the boss has approved.

    29er is certain, 120mm max preferred. Lockout would be nice. Must be XL so 21"+
    Speed and efficiency definitely priority over 'air' time. I do neither large jumps nor drops - multiple incidents have put me off!
