I just wanted to tag Rod_Munch once to make him aware of the ride... Sorry.
-
• #5
Would everyone stop tagging @Rod_Munch please.

FFS, you monsters.
Where the fuck did this Amersham ride appear from anyway??
-
• #7
This is the fabled "Bring me my Beacons" ride that nearly destroyed the TNRC.
-
• #8
Please, share some details... Have I turned the wrong stone?
-
• #9
Oh god, I thought that was ‘Pitches and Hoes’..
-
• #10
Yes, you are quite right, that was "Pitches and Hoes", all is good here.

It was the Chilterns Again title that confused me, there is a third Chilterns ride, out of Hemel Hempstead, but we do not talk of that one.
-
• #12
Right, I'm curious now... Anyway, I've updated the first post with a RGPS link.

This where I use the search function to try and unearth some evidence, and stumble upon my first posts in the WNKR thread (as it was still on Wednesdays back then)
Do you think a guy riding a 42/15 (2.8) ratio could follow the pace or would it be too "spinny"?

I'll get myself a map now, which one should I buy ? (I already have a London A-Z atlas)
We then proceed to ride the Potters Bar route, and this was my first time in a 'spoon too, I still remember YAL staring down in amazement at all the cans of beer he'd just bought with so little money. (and also riding back to the station on the wrong side of the road)
Fun times :')

Would love to, but can't make this Thursday or next. I'm already getting TNRC withdrawal symptoms. Worried August may be a barren month for me too.
Enjoy them hills.

Anyone else considering la smashfestina back into town afterwards?
-
• #17
Well I could be tempted, I'll see.

All downhill on the way back so seems rude not to...

That was a nice ride, thanks for coming. Good route too, though the sometimes lunar road conditions make it more suited to smaller groups and dryer days.
I think @Mikey5000 had a couple of nice snaps :)

Definitely paying the price for the ride back now but had a great night, thanks for organising! Graeme, did you mean to split after drafting the car down the hill?! Jim went to look for you but there was no catching you...

Lovely ride folks

Not really. I got to the bottom of that looooooong hill, then looked back, saw no one, so went back up aaaaaaall the way up to that intersection where you said right at the roundabout, but it wasn't a roundabout. At first I thought it was Jim getting me back for last week, but then realised I must have missed you guys so just carried on. Was no probs, and was good to go with you guys for the part we did.
Rest of the ride before was very nice too! I've just ordered a bunch of stuff, which includes new tyres.
Also, piles, anyone ridden with them? :/ -

Shit sorry dude, I rode down a bit on the opposite side of the road to get a better view and just saw your light disappearing round a distant bend at lightspeed - I figured there was no way you'd ride back up after that!
After the great success of the Hemel Hempstead re-run, another Chiltern route that doesn't seem to get done very often. 31 miles with chances of hills, subject to good weather.
